At the podium in the lecture hall, Professor Tolbert delivers what I’ve come to refer to as the Disappointment Speech. It’s the third one in six weeks. Themes: Family ties, wealth, greed, personal development, romance, and grief. Beautiful Disaster – Jamie McGuire And, Hannah. All I can say that she is incredibly strong being able to work through her past. Even though she has learned to move forward, her parents are a reminder of the things that her family has been through because of what happened to her at a party and being in such a small town, they town all but outcasted them making life so much harder. Now that Hannah’s away at college, it has helped a good bit, but she can’t help but feel guilty for placing so much strain on her parents. Let me disclaim that there was MASSIVE potential here for a good book, but it had so many problems. I began highlighting lines that said problematic things, and I ended up having 147 notes of things that made me cringe or things that made me uncomfortable. If this book went under rigorous editing it could be the feminist read I think it's trying to be, but there's way too much perpetuation of gender stereotypes/roles, slut shaming, internalized misogyny, and overused/toxic tropes occurring.

The story is amazing. The Deal is easily one of my favorite books this year. Hannah and Garrett are individually strong, complex characters, and their chemistry, both romantic and not, is phenomenal. She snorts. “Uh-huh. Well, sorry to burst your bubble, Mr. Perfect, but I’m not interested in dating you.” Abby has made every effort to forget her past and reinvent herself since leaving her hometown to attend college, and in Beautiful Disaster, she has succeeded. I adored the fake dating element, especially because it starts out as her needing it to make another guy notice her, which Garrett is fine with in the beginning because he has his own reasons for needing Hannah.Hannah takes a breath. “We studied. We watched TV. I went home late. That’s what happened. Got it?” Hannah Wells is a 20 years old girl who's not very popular. She has some good friends and a supporting, loving family. Not many of her friends know about what happened to her five years ago. Despite her past, Hannah is not a broken girl. She wants to be ‘normal’, she has people in her life who care deeply for her, she has dreams. In most of the areas she’s a confident girl, but when it comes to relationships, sex and seduction she’s not the most experienced girl. Too bad since she has a crush on one of the football players.

Garrett was a perfectly imperfect hero. He was hilarious, sarcastic and so very sexy. Every girl reading this book will wish they were Hannah. He struggles with being in his famous father’s shadow while continuing to survive his wrath. I must mention that I also loved all his roommates and am excited that they will follow with their own stories. Avery needed to get away from her past, just like Hannah and other characters in works like The Deal, so she chooses to enroll in a college where no one will recognize her. The Deal is a real gem! If you are on a lookout for something with light-hearted humor, splendid storyline and charged with sexual chemistry, I strongly recommend reaching for it. It’ll be exactly what you need.Well, I am here to announce Elle Kennedy has broken the barriers of the NA curse... She has written a smart, compelling, and real book about college seniors who you fall for hook, line, and sinker at the first meeting... A deliciously sexy story with a wallop of emotions that sneaks up on you’ Vi Keeland, No.1 New York Times bestselling author

Hannah is the girl on campus that kind of keeps to herself with her group of friends. She knows where she stands in the social world and is fine where she is at. It has been a year since her last relationship and finally has a crush on a new football transfer student. I've already lost count of the number of times I've re-read The Deal since the first time, and while Garrett & Hanna still hold a special place in my heart, and I'm going to stand by the five star rating I gave the book the first time, I notice some things in the plot of these characters that I hadn't noticed in my first readings and didn't like so much now. Despite that, this story is still one of the cutest, funniest and most tender I've ever read, so I'm going to continue with my Off-Campu re-reading marathon! I’ll be honest, I’ve wanted to read some of Elle’s books since I found out that Erin Watt was a pseudonym for two authors, and recently on Booktok, Elle’s Off-Campus/Briar U series started to show up on my FYP all the time ranking the guys and showing mood boards, so I gave in (not that it took much) and bought an ecopy then I finished it today and ended up buying a physical copy because I love Garrett and Hannah’s story so much. And him and Hannah together. Literally soo cute, and I LOVE HANNAH SO SO MUCH. She went through so much but is still marching through life as the queen she is. Garrett knows that Hannah is the only one who can help him so he’s very, very persistent. They become some kind of friends, but one kiss changes everything between them. Why did you give your female main character the trauma of being sexually abused if you were going to have Garret manipulate her into kissing him while she is thinking "Just do it, you don't even have to like it" the whole time? Hannah is rehearsing for the winter show. She’s meant to be doing a duet with Cass, who is a nightmare to work with, for a song written by MJ. Cass keeps trying to change the plan, and eventually talks MJ into making changes that cause Hannah to drop out of the duet.

And also because - as a former college athlete who had a lot of college male athlete friends - they really are manwhores in real life. Being the sister of an esteemed NHL player hasn’t always been simple for Stevie, but it has its advantages, such as a penthouse where she can hide if she discovers her partner having an affair. Christine had proclaimed losing her virginity to be the happiest night of her life. Now, many years down the line, she actually gets to plot and carry out her retaliation for his abrupt dismissal. He also desires to understand what she’s trying to conceal so he can assist her in resolving any problems or discomfort. Will Jase’s love for Avery be strong enough to keep them both alive when he learns the truth?Lina is aware that she cannot attend her sister’s wedding by herself. She hasn’t, however, made any time for dating, yet she told her mother that she is taking her extremely serious boyfriend. He sounds so genuinely upset that I scoot closer and kiss him. “It doesn’t matter. You know me now.”
