About this deal

Mild, mellow, and subtly sweet. It’s flavor profile also makes it a good for blending with other woods to add complexity. Stainless steel or cast iron is your best bet, as they will retain heat well while guarding the chips from overheating and burning out. Further to this, they’ll also be durable so will help to withstand being exposed to high cooking temperatures time and time again without rusting or falling apart. How to use a smoker box

Once the box starts smoking, set up the grill for indirect cooking by turning off all burners the food will be over. Close the lid of the grill and wait a few minutes for smoke to pour out of the grill. Now it’s time to lower the heat of the dedicated burner under the smoker box to medium or low so that the wood will smolder slowly. What’s advantageous of the zoned setup is it slows the burn rate within the smoker box, allowing for longer smoke times. The ignition zone is directly over a burner, so the smolder starts there first, then slowly follows along the L shape. It eventually reaches the end zone, once all of the content of the smoker box are done burning. Water Pan Controlling the temperature of a gas grill is not a matter of opening and closing vents, it’s simply a matter of turning knobs. In most cases you will adjust one or two of the main burners during cooking, though if you want to smoke at very low temperatures (below 250°F), turn off all of the main burners and use just the dedicated burner under the smoker box for the heat.

You can place the smoker either on the grate or below it. The box should be as close to the heat source as possible, so if you’re using a gas grill then place it right above the burners.

The wood chips themselves can’t actually start burning, thus releasing their flavory goodness, until all the water has been evaporated out. That’s right, what you are seeing initially is steam, not smoke. When you want to grill on the beach or picnic in the park, a portable bbq stand will help to protect the ground, or, if you are worried about flare ups or uneven cooking, a grill mat will help you no matter the location. Don’t forget a great set of bbq tongs, when you are out in the wild! Accessories for wood pellet grills With that being said, the best thermometer I have ever used has been the Thermapen Mk4 ( they are definitely worth the money) ( they are definitely worth the money). I have tried several imitators out there, but nothing compares to genuine products from ThermoWorks. Yes, they may seem a little pricey, but trust me, you get what you pay for. Material:While a smoker box is in essence a really simple tool, there is a big difference in cheaper and elite models. This difference can usually be found in the type of metal that they’re made of. Let me respond to a couple of criticisms, starting with the "warping" issue. I can't imagine this product warping. I left it in the grill when it was preheating at 500 degrees and then it was in the grill for hours at 350. Mine is as square as the day I got it. One explanation of why I did not have the problem others reported might be the hinge system, two rivets at each end. If you get wood chips on the open lid and between the rivets and force the lid to close, then the rivets will bend. It would appear that the box is warped, but the hinge is just out of alignment. My guess is that others think this is being warped, but it is not.

To get the most out of your Weber® BBQ, Weber® accessories are designed to help make life easier and look after your grill. As can be seen in the above diagram from Weber’s patent the smoker box is placed across the grease deflector bars in a gas grill. It’s positioned so that the left side of the smoker box and water pan are resting on a deflector bar (labeled 2224) without a burner beneath it. The right side of the smoker box rests on a deflector bar (labeled 2222) above a burner (labeled 2214), creating zones within smoker box. Smoker Box Zones

Weber® Gas Barbecues

It’s a large box, which means that its wood chip capacity is excellent at three cups. This doesn’t just mean that you don’t have to replenish the fuel supply as much, but it also means that your smoking power output is far better. Setting up a gas grill for smoking can be very easy, especially if the grill is equipped with a built-in smoker box; however, there is a way to create smoke even without a built-in smoker box. As you can see, and my personal experiences have confirmed, soaking doesn’t seem to do anything except give people the false impression that the chips are producing more smoke for longer periods. What’s actually happening is that the wet chips produce steam until they are completely dry, then they start burning and producing smoke. So soaking your wood chips only delays the time it takes for the smoking process to start. How to Setup Your Grill For Smoking Because of how simple they are, they can be used with almost any gas grill, and can even be used with charcoal grills too. Shape & Size: Some smokers are flat in shape, while some are v-shaped. With flat boxes, not all grills can accommodate them well, while v-shaped boxes tend to be able to slot between your burner covers quite well.
