About this deal

For those who like their zombies more goofy and less scary, this book is one for you. Andy Warner is a brand new zombie, still lamenting the loss of his past life and still trying to figure out the ins and outs of undead existence. When he ends up at an Undead Anonymous meeting, Andy meets a group of friends who help make his transition into the world of the undead a whole lot easier, including the whole eating human flesh part. The book is described as a zom-rom-com (zombie romantic comedy), and I love that so much that I hope one day that becomes a real sub-genre (I can already think of a few other books that would fit that description). husk: A Novel by corey redekop This book is more of a thinker than a thriller, though it does have some gripping scenes spread throughout. It’s a thoughtful, contemplative exploration of what might really happen to the world if a zombie outbreak occurred.

Let’s take a closer look at three of these books in particular. Across all of the lists I reviewed, the three works featured below appeared time and time again. So I guess you could call these three of the best zombie apocalypse books ever written, according to “the masses.” Feed, by Mira Grant Rot & Ruin, by Jonathan Maberry. From Publishers Weekly: “The delineation between man and monster, survivor and victim is fiercely debated in Maberry’s thoughtful, postapocalyptic coming-of-age tale.”Feed, by Mira Grant. The first in a series, Feed tells the story of two bloggers who unravel a political conspiracy involving the undead. You might have thought it was cool when Westworldmashed up two of your favorite genres: Western and Science Fiction. Well, in her Zombie West series, Angela Scott mashes together Western and (you guessed it) zombies. When a redheaded cowgirl called “Red” saunters into a saloon, Trace knows that he has to join her in her zombie-killing adventure. All he knows about the cowgirl is that she’s the sharpest shooter he’s ever seen. What he doesn’t know about “Red” is a much longer list, including secrets Trace is not prepared for. married with zombies by jesse peterson But let’s be honest: There’s no such thing as the best zombie apocalypse book or novel of all time. When it comes to fiction, the word “best” is highly subjective. A book that blows me away might fall flat with you, and vice versa.

The Reapers Are the Angels, by Alden Bell. I was glad to find this one on so many lists of the best zombie novels, because we need more literary southern gothic style books about the undead. At the beginning of this book, Stony Mayhall is a zombie baby. Yes, you heard me. The Mayhalls discover Stony as an infant, undead in his dead teen mother’s arms, and Wanda Mayhall, the family matriarch, decides to take Stony home and raise him as one of her own rather than alerting the authorities. But what happens when Stony begins to grow and goes out into the world to find other undead people like himself? bruja born byZoraida Córdova Monster Island, by David Wellington. First published online in serial format, this 2006 novel tells the tale of a zombie who has retained his human intelligence.Looking for a list of the best zombie books ever written? Me too! In fact, that’s what motivated me to create the list you’re reading right now. Admittedly, the first book is a little oddly paced in some spots. There are also moments where political views seem to be oddly thrown into the dialogue.

Day by Day Armageddon, by J.L. Bourne. A journal-style zombie book that chronicles the daily struggles of a former military guy living in a world overrun by the undead.Speaking of humorous slants on the zombie book genre, here’s another one that fits the bill. In Husk,Sheldon Funk is a struggling actor turned zombie who’s trying hard to make his desire for human flesh work with all of his other real life responsibilities. Can Sheldon launch his acting career, handle his mother’s dementia, and hold on to his hot-but-vapid boyfriend, all while decomposing? Huskis a hilarious satire that isn’t afraid to ask the tough questions. For instance, do zombies poop? Don’t act like you haven’t wondered. the rising by brian keene Carnage Road, by Gregory Lamberson. This novella tells the story of two bikers who travel across the country after their gang is wiped out during a nationwide zombie crisis. Fast forward a decade later and Rhiannon is now an accomplished author being published by Tor Books. Many of her horror titles have also earned critical acclaim. Among her most celebrated releases is the As The World Dies zombie apocalypse trilogy, beginning with The First Days.

This is Not a Test, by Courtney Summers. The story of a traumatized teenage girl who, along with five other students, must shelter inside their high school during the start of a zombie apocalypse. This book is the beginning of a series with serious political leanings. Joe Ledger is a Baltimore detective who has just been recruited by the government for a secret mission. He will be leading a rapid response group tasked with stopping a terrorist organization from releasing a dreadful bio-weapon that can turn ordinary people into zombies. At this point, there are several books in the Joe Ledger series, so if you enjoy this character, you can follow his many other cases. wanted: dead or undead by angela scott The First Days, by Rhiannon Frater. After being bitten by his infected stepfather, Zed Zane must fight for his life among the zombies as well as the normal people who now fear him. The guards are afraid to get near her — but Melanie doesn’t quite understand why. That is, until a wave of zombies suddenly overrun the compound. This opens her eyes to the outside world for the first time; an existence plagued by a zombie apocalypse within which, unbeknownst to her, she has a role to play. Speaking of romance and zombies, I give you Warm Bodies, a zombie book that gives a not-so-subtle nod to Romeo & Julietwith the romantic leads being named R and Julie. See what they did there? Unlike some of the more serious romance-y horror books on this list, this is another book I would put in that zom-rom-com category that is definitely a thing. Equal parts funny and sweet, this novel tells the story of a zombie man who falls in love with a human woman. Together, they discover the transformative powers of love. If you’ve already read Warm Bodiesand enjoyed it, the sequel The Burning Worldwas just released last year. warmth by sumiko saulson I think fans of military-themed zombie apocalypse books will fully enjoy author Jonathan Maberry’s release. The plot centers on the legendary Joe Ledger, a hardened Baltimore detective, who joins a secret response team to stop terrorists. The mission: prevent the baddies from infecting people with a terrible bio-weapon that, essentially, turns them into zombies.
