Nikki is watching Oliver for a little while. Brianna doesn't want to play at first. Nikki tries to get her to play, but Brianna still refuses. She thinks Miss Penelope could be a better babysitter. Nikki challenges her and is going to see how it goes. While the kids play, Mr. Buttons suddenly disappears. Today's the day Nikki hangs out with Brandon at Crazy Burger. When they arrive, they just casually wait for their food to arrive, bored to an extent. Soon enough, their food arrives and they talk about a few things. After a few nervous sputters, Nikki ultimately asks Brandon if he would go to the Sweetheart Dance with him. He accepts and Nikki is overjoyed. Usually I find that after six books a series can become somewhat repetitive, but thankfully that isn't the case here. Each Dork Diaries book seems to be even better than the last one, with more drama and laughs than expected. I think Holiday Heartbreak is actually my favourite of the series so far, and if I had the next book I would have read it straight away!

Today's swim skill is diving. Each diver must swim through seven rings. Nikki comes wearing scuba gear and, due to it, only gets a D. Hans! Go get our customer, Miss Nikki, a glass of le chocolate milk! Extra cold! she commanded, looking at the teddy bear in the chair next to mine. Okay, I’ll admit it was really nice and sweet of her to do that. But she had totally overlooked one very important little detail.… SHE WASN’T INVITED! It could have actually happened…!! I CAN’T BELIEVE THIS IS HAPPENING! I DROPPED MY PHONE AND NOW I CAN’T CALL NIKKI! Never mind zat, dah-ling! You are Miss Bri-Bri’s next appointment! Wee! Wee! Come! Come!" she said, pushing me into her desk salon chair.Now that Nikki is going to the dance with Brandon, she needs a dress to wear; none of the dresses she finds at the store really fit the criteria. Lately, Brianna has been totally obsessed with those diva hair salon shows on TV. And get this! She actually calls herself Miss Bri-Bri, Fashionista Hairstylist to the Stars! Nikki is not looking forward to the floating skills swim test at school tomorrow and imagines an excuse note to get out of it.

A very HAPPY wheezing, sweat-soaked mass of body odor and sheer exhaustion. ME, WITH A BIG FAT DORKY SMILE PLASTERED ACROSS MY FACE!! I felt SO insanely happy I could just… VOMIT sunshine, rainbows, confetti, glitter, and… um… those yummy little Skittles candy thingies! The first book of this kind I read was Wimpy Kid and I almost completed all books in that series along with my younger sister, then I came across Dork Diaries and we both heard a sample from the 6th book from the series and loved it. We finished the whole book and was really happy. Nikki's mom offers her to wear her old bridesmaid outfit (which makes her look like a mermaid), but Nikki is a little uneasy. They schedule to shop for a dress on Wednesday, which is just two days from the dance.

Those posters should’ve been a WARNING to me about Miss Bri-Bri’s hairstyling abilities. I couldn’t resist coming up with catchy names for each one.… Holiday Heartbreak is the sixth (yes, sixth!) book in the excellent Dork Diaries series. I'm not sure where the time's gone since book one was published, but Nikki's now getting very grown up and things finally seem to be progressing with her crush, Brandon. Yay! Brandon tries to talk to Nikki in the library about what had been going on. They said that one or the other had been too busy to hang out with the other considering what had been going on. They didn't know what had happened, but soon they settle on hanging out at Crazy Burger on Saturday. Zoey and Chloe saw the whole thing. But I had to admit, Miss Bri-Bri, Fashionista Hairstylist to the Stars, seemed to know her stuff.… ME, READING WHILE MISS BRI-BRI DOES MY HAIR Even Chloe and Zoey are excited for the dance. In gym class, their practicing swim meets. Nikki says she's not going, so neither are her friends. She tries to convince them to go without her, but it was easier said than done. They argue for a little bit until class ends. Later, Nikki meets up with Brandon and refuses to let him tell her his side of the story for why he couldn't go to Crazy Burger. When she tries to talk about their relationship, he walks off. She crosses item 4 off the list. Later that night, she gets a bull dial from him, much to her frustration.

It's the biggest dance of the year and it's up to the girls to ask the boys. Nikki really wants to ask her crush, Brandon, but what if he says no? Major cringe! To her horror, Nikki finds the picture that Brianna accidentally texted to her friends plastered in the hallway as a Sweetheart Princess campaign. She doesn't know who put them up there or why. She and her friends immediately take them down. Don’t worry, dah-ling, Miss Bri-Bri said. I’m going to make you BOOTY-FUL! For your little friend Brandon. Yes?!
