About this deal

What sets Fitbit Versa 3 apart from Fitbit Versa 2 are some notable upgrades. The most notable is the built-in GPS in Fitbit Versa 3, opposed to connected GPS in Fitbit Versa 2. Built-in GPS is where it's at. You can use it during outdoor runs, rides, hikes, and workouts to see your pace and distance without your phone. Then, you can access maps of your workout routes in the Fitbit app. Meet Fitbit Versa 3, the health and fitness smartwatch with built-in GPS, Active Zone Minutes, 20+ exercise modes, and music experiences to keep you motivated to move.

Design-wise, the Versa 3 looks nearly identical to the Sense, featuring the same bright, colorful 1.58-inch, 336-by-336-pixel AMOLED display. In my Sense review, I noted that the display can be laggy; you sometimes have to swipe several times to get a response, an issue I also experienced on the Versa 3. The screen is beautiful, but it can be frustratingly unresponsive at times. At one point while testing the Versa 3, the screen froze and I had to reset the device to get it to start working again. The Versa also features the same troublesome band release mechanism, which I found could be accidentally triggered on the Sense. You can view your activity data in the Today app on the watch, or in the Fitbit app on your phone. The Today app also shows your progress toward your weekly exercise goal and sleep data from the previous night. There are also differences when it comes to music. Both watches allow you to control your Spotify playlist from your wrist (provided you have a Spotify Premium subscription), and the Versa 3 also supports streaming from Deezer. A fully-charged Versa 3 has a battery life of 6+ days. Battery life and charge cycles vary with use and other factors; actual results will vary. Fitbit Versa Lite – Simple, easy to use, and with key fitness and smart features, the Fitbit Versa Lite Edition is cheaper and more accessible version of the Versa 2. The low price is great, but it also means that you won't have access to some features of the Versa 2 such as Spotify or Fitbit Pay, so perhaps this is a good choice if price is your main concern.Fitbit has also changed the strap mechanism – the same as in the Fitbit Sense – and we think it’s better than the mechanism on the Versa 2. A small button acts as a latch, which when pulled slightly down releases the clasp. It gives the watch a much more streamlined look and makes it remarkably easy to swap out the default sporty strap it comes with. Fitbit says the feature is "not intended to diagnose or treat any medical condition and should not be relied on for any medical purposes." That said, if your sleeping SpO2 level is lower than 80 percent, you should seek professional medical attention. It's worth reiterating that many of the better Fitbit apps are paid, just as they are on Apple Watch or Android Wear OS devices, so you'll need to pony up if you want some of the expanded functionality they provide. On the right edge of the watch chassis is a tiny mic and a speaker which, in theory, should allow you to take calls.

When you're done with setup, read through the guide to learn more about your new watch and then explore the Fitbit app. Whichever watch you buy, you’ll get both small and large bands in the box, and you can buy alternative designs if you feel like a change. Charge Versa 3 for 12 minutes for 24 hours of battery life. While the watch charges, tap the screen twice or press the button to turn the screen on. The battery level appears for several seconds, then disappears so you can use your watch while it charges. Charging fully takes about 1-2 hours. The Fitbit Versa 3 has essentially the same design as the Fitbit Sense, with a large square display and rounded corners (Image credit: TechRadar) Design and display The Health Metrics dashboard of the Fitbit app—which is currently a Premium feature, but will be available to all users with compatible devices for free in the coming months—offers some other interesting sleep metrics, including your breathing rate (the number of breaths taken per minute), heart rate variability (the variation in time between heartbeats), and resting heart rate (the number of times your heart beats per minute when you are still and rested). The Sense, meanwhile, also measures your skin temperature during the night, a feature not available on the Versa 3. Smartwatch FeaturesThat includes the presence of Alexa on your wrist. Trigger the Alexa app via a shortcut and you can ask your question to the virtual assistant, who will duly reply in text on the screen. Given Google is in the process of buying Fitbit at the moment, it’s no surprise that Google Assistant is also an option, but it’s not quite ready for showtime yet, with the company promising support later in the year. Like the more expensive Sense smartwatch, the Versa 3 can measure your SpO2 and skin temperature from your wrist.
