Description

Bath Waste Kit (with overflow pipe) - this is all the fittings you see inside the bath as well as the overflow pipe. The fittings inside the bath consist of the plug & chain or popup & control as well as the overflow grill. The overflow pipe is on the outside of the bath, it carries water that goes through the overflow down and then under the bath where it joins up with the pipe that comes down from where the plug hole is. The different kinds of waste are described in more detail below. When you are putting together your dream bathroom, it is important to keep in mind;the little things make a big difference. Your accessories, your finishing touches and even your more utilitarian, functional parts can have a huge impact on your chosen look. Bath Wastesare a prime example of this. Top tip: As you tighten these components, the plumber’s gold will ooze out around the flange. Simply wipe the excess with a wonder wipe. Hopefully, you have another person helping you at this point. If so, ask them to help you line up the overflow tube with the overflow opening on your bath. You also need to make sure the horizontal drain arm lines up with the drain opening on the bottom of your tub.

In general the standpipes should be at least as high as the point on the bath over which the taps must reach, after this a higher tap will look more imposing so if you want to show off the taps you might opt for the higher standpipe. To help make your choice easier, we have compiled a list of thedifferent styles and functions available for Bath Waste Kits, so think about what you would be happy to live with and use in your day-to-day routine. Bath Plug and Chain Waste / Retainer Bath WastesThe most popular bath waste is the pop up. To close the plug simply turn the overflow, and repeat the process to open and drain your bath. This is particularly good as your hands stay dry. Bath Plug and Waste Is you tap a traditional one either with no hand held shower or with one that rests over the top of the tap on a 'telephone style' rest? - Use 660mm or 700mm standpipes (see below**) The first thing you need to do is get access to your existing tub. This job is much easier for baths you haven’t yet installed. So, depending on the type of tub and fittings you have, this will either be a simple or difficult step. For example, freestanding tubs or those with slip fittings will make your life easier. Bath wastes come in various makes, models and sizes, depending on the type of bath design you have. Our guide takes you through replacing a simple design that you can adapt for all types of bath waste components. Should you use silicone when fitting a bath waste?

Now it’s time to prepare your bath for its new waste and overflow components. At this point, it’s worth test-fitting the items and cutting the kit to size if it doesn’t fit perfectly. It’s best to do this before securing everything in place and realising you have to remove or redo it. Take your drain fitting and thread it through the tailpiece of the drain arm, which you will then be able to tighten with your wrench. Your helper will need to hold the drain arm in place. If you need an exposed waste kit (see above) and your bath has feet or stands on a cradle or plinth then you will probably need this, otherwise use plastic equivalents supplied by your plumber. Do you need an exposed waste kit (see above)? Yes - Use Adjustable Pipe Shrouds to cover the water feeds. Looking for a sleek way to complete your roll top bath? This Traditional Luxury Exposed Free Standing Bath Drainage Kit is just the thing. The bath drainage kit makes a statement of your tub's piping with a look that nods to the traditional style of classic freestanding baths. Its timeless cylindrical body and chrome finish mean it's easy to pair it with other fixtures in your space. Whatever the size of your tub, this roll top bath waste will fit to suit its length – simply cut the fixture to the size you require before you install.

What finance packages do you offer?

Depending on the style of bath that you choose for your bathroom we will have a bath waste to complement it perfectly. Once the current drain fittings are removed, unscrew the cover plate that sits on the inside of the top of your tub (the bit where excess water flows through). This should easily come away with a little elbow grease. Chain Waste - this is the traditional chain and plug we all know and love. The ones we sell are all what are known as stowaway or retainer chain wastes, these have a kind of recessed overflow, and when the plug is not in use it will fit snugly into it, neatly out of the way. This is usually the best choice for a traditional style bathroom. The Overflow is the part of your bath that helps prevent, well, you guessed it, your bath from overflowing! Usually a small hole or grill, the overflow is not only functional but can add to your overall look. Integrated Bath Fillers Bath Wastes may not be the first thing to jump into your mind when you set about designing a bathroom and planning your decor, however, it can be well worth the time it takes to think about your options and choose one thatfits your style and functional needs.

Depending on the complexity of the components, what access you have to your bath, and the type of bath waste you’re installing, you can either follow our step-by-step guide or hire one of our plumbing experts to help you. Are bath wastes a standard size? Using a silicone sealant is advised when fitting a pop-up bath waste to avoid overtightening it and hindering the pop-up feature. Does a bath waste need a trap?Trap and Outlet Pipe - these go under the bath. The trap is short length of tubing with a wiggle in it, it attaches to where the bottom of the waste (see above) and the overflow pipe meet under the bath and carries waste water from both of these to the outlet or waste pipe. The outlet pipe is a length of piping with a right angled bend in it about 60cm long and then 25cm after the bend, it takes water from the trap either out through the floor or sideways out through a wall. The outlet pipe connects at both ends with pressure connections (rubber, push on connections). This means that it can be cut shorter at either end if required and can fit on either way round. We only supply chrome traps and pipes, in most cases where the trap and pipe are not expected to be visible you can use bog-standard plastic ones that your plumber can supply. Note: Slip fittings make this step infinitely easier as you only need to tighten everything to secure it together. How to fit a flexible bath waste pipe Here are some key terms you should be familiar with when you are on the look out for a stylish new Bath Waste Kit to finish your bathtub.. Overflow

Fitting a bath waste trap is a fiddly job that usually requires you to replace the entire bath waste assembly. To do this, follow our above step-by-step guide or call in a professional. How do you fit a bath waste? Many traditional baths come with feet that have an adjustable pad underneath which had a bolt attached that fixes into the foot casting and can be used to raise the foot up and down. Usually these baths can be fixed to the floor by applying silicon to the bottom of these pads and cementing the bath to the floor like this. Use the technique discussed in the last bullet point, i.e. plenty of silicon and weigh the bath down with water or something else whilst the silicon is setting. Does your tap have a hand held shower attached but with no integral hook to rest it on? - Use minimalist standpipesTop tip: Make sure your replacement bath waste fittings closely match your existing ones. How to fit a bath pop up waste and overflow With free standing bathtubs, your plumbing becomes an accessory. Free standing taps with curving, graceful lines, Victorian-inspired faucets and chrome-finish Exposed Bath Wastes add authenticity to a Period-style bath tub. Are you having taps mounted on the edge of the bath (with tap holes drilled in the edge of the bath) and an exposed waste kit? Yes - Goto 2; No - Goto 3. A bath is an investment and not the kind of change you make often. You will spend a significant amount of time in or looking at your bath as you go about your daily routine, and so it is important to consider any changes or updates to this area carefully. If you are unsure what the term Bath Waste means; it is basically the plumbing that provides your water with somewhere to go once it flows down into your plug hole. In other words, it's an essential part to ensure the bath waste can escape from the bathtub to the drainage system. This can include the plug, any parts behind the bathtub, and the overflow system.
