Description

The Smart 6’s brush head holder is a moulded piece of plastic that clips around the charging stand and offers up 2 prongs. The brush heads then sit on these. It keeps them upright and they do not touch, but they are not covered like they are with the compartment with the 9000, which can accommodate up to 4 brush heads. Your brushing time, frequency and technique will have a bigger impact than the number of movements alone. High street and online retailer Boots, have a different variant of the Pro 2 2500. Instead of a travel case, a tube of Oral-B’s Pro-Expert toothpaste is included and the brush handle grip colour is Blue. I consider the travel case more desirable than the tube of toothpaste.

All three electric toothbrushes come with two forms of pressure sensor. A visible light that flashes red when you are pressing too hard and also a sensor in the brush head that slows down pulsations and oscillations if you are pressing too hard. These are both critical to prevent gum recession and tooth wear. A smaller and final difference between the two models is the colour of the brush handles, or more precisely the rubber grip that runs down the front of it.

1) Features: Oral-B Pro 2000 vs 3000 vs 2500

The 1000’s pressure sensor, will like the 2000’s reduce the number of brush head movements, until such time as the pressure is relieved. However, it is virtually impossible to know if the sensor has been activated on the 1000 as there is no light, or significant change in sound or brushing sensation. The N at the end stands for Normal as it comes with the “standard” CrossAction Brush head. There is also a W variety which is Whitening and S which is Sensitive. The letter just represents the Brush Head that it comes with, the electric toothbrush handles are exactly the same. Should I go for the Oral-B Pro 2 2500 or Oral-B Pro 650 electric toothbrush?

However, the Pro 1000 has a cleaner, more minimal look to it. The design is said to be inspired by Oral-B’s more premium iO brush handles. Over time you will learn how much pressure you need to apply and it will essentially become redundant for most within a few month’s. The Oral-B iO has been redesigned from the ground up. From the motor to the handle, to the brush head, it has all changed. The Genius X does command a premium for this technological upgrade and you get a little less in the box.Changing the brush heads is very easy, which is handy if other family members share the same handle and just swap on their own cleaning heads as needed. Hopefully, this gives you a good overview of where various brushes fit in in terms of price and features, but if not please leave a comment or question.
