The day passed much as the day before had done. Mrs. Hurst and Miss Bingley had spent some hours of the morning with the invalid, who continued, though slowly, to mend; and in the evening Elizabeth joined their party in the drawing room. The card table, however, did not appear. Mr. Darcy was writing, and Miss Bingley seated near him, was watching the progress of his letter and repeatedly calling off his attention by messages to his sister. Mr. Hurst and Mr. Bingley were at piquet, and Mrs. Hurst was observing their game. Rosenberg, Adam (December 11, 2009). "Natalie Portman To Take On 'Pride And Prejudice And Zombies' " . Retrieved December 12, 2009. Travers, Peter (February 4, 2016). "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies Movie Review Rolling Stone". Rolling Stone.I think the best way I can give you a true idea of what I’m trying to convey is to share with you some of the more memorable moments: Despite some brain-eating going on here, it did so very little to entertain me. I wanted the zombies to have the spotlight here, I wanted the characters to run them down, find a cure and thus save the next centuries of human kind from a zombie plague.

Its the classic book you love with a twist. And since ,fantasy, darkness and zombies are also my thing i was okay with them and also they mixed well with Jane Austen. Lizzy was a badass fighter and i loved her even more in this one, IF THAT'S EVEN POSSIBLE!!! And Darcyyyy being the best zombie killer there is, just WOW. Sexier stronger Darcy. Halford, Macy (April 8, 2009). "Jane Austen Does the Monster Mash". The New Yorker . Retrieved October 7, 2010. The success of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies has led to several other mash-ups pairing classical works or historical figures with modern horror themes such as Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters, [38] and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. Perhaps I'm being too hard on the movie though. It has its merits, I assure you. For one, the cast in universally excellent, and they are able to play their dual roles as Pride & Prejudice alums and badass zombie slayers in equal measure. The thing I enjoyed most about this movie though was its unique setting for the apocalyptic fiction. Most zombie stories are set in modern day, or a far off and ruined future. 19th Century England is, if nothing else, a unique take. At first I thought it was weird and forced how they continued with their parties and royalty in a zombie apocalypse. But then I thought, English people of this era? Yeah, they would wouldn't they. It's a unique take separate from the lone streets of The Walking Dead, and there old timey methods of hunting made for fun slaying. There is also Amanda Grange’s, Mr Darcy, Vampyre (2009), in which Elizabeth Bennet wakes up to the worrying truth that she is married to a “vampyre”; and Carrie Bebris’ Pride and Prescience (2012), and subsequent books, which cast Elizabeth Bennet as one half of a dynamic detective duo investigating supernatural mysteries. Fans – and the weirdly fascinated – can rest assured. England’s green and pleasant land will be beset by a plague of the living dead. Corpses will dig their way out of graves. Crypt doors will burst open. Armies of Satan’s soldiers – shambling, soulless, brain-devouring monsters – will upturn coaches, invade the houses of the rich, and generally terrorise the good citizens of Austen’s Hertfordshire. Someone may have a great concept, but setting that down on paper is too difficult, or that someone can create some good scenes or segments, but stringing them together results in a too thin or too silly creation.

I have read one of his other books, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, and I enjoyed it as well. I think he does a great job of combining genres with the results feeling creative, unique, and often hilarious and not feeling contrived or stupid. It doesn't always work, mind you; Grahame-Smith is not on Austen's level as a writer, and the seams between the original prose and his additions are not as hidden as they should be. He adds in some unnecessary scatological humor and sexual innuendo that, for me at least, were far more jarring to wedge into a Jane Austen story than the hordes of zombies. Some readers may also find the extent to which Elizabeth has been transformed into a bloodthirsty warrior too jarring against the original state of her character. Mr. Bennet, how can you abuse your own children in such a way? You take delight in vexing me. You have no compassion for my poor nerves." I did not like Pride and Prejudice. In fact, I read it only for reading this book after. I thought this was gonna be a good laugh, that it would be satirical and that it would relieve me of tye boredom I felt with P&P, but either I have no sense of humour or this book was a fail.
