About this deal

As a side note, I can't smell anything ozonic or aquatic here, nor spices. This is a honeyed powdery ambery rose , should you wish to simplify matters . Edit: If Rose Rouge smells like the pictures of rose wine, dark red roses and the dark fancy chocolates I will be in heaven and so will my husband. If it is that good, it will go on my full bottle wish list. I always love a good gourmand rose, and this just might be the ultimate one for me. It's just as soft and luscious as Rose Velours, with the same wonderful, realistic, deep red rose at its heart, but this one is less green and instead fruitier and sweeter and more overtly gourmand. It smells just absolutely delicious, and super well balanced: the lovely jammy rose/berry combination is perfectly complemented by the more powdery sweetness of cacao and vanilla, and the woody base keeps the gourmand aspect from going overboard without being too obtrusive in itself. That's the most admirable thing about this fragrance: despite it being one of the most delicious scents I've ever smelled, it's restrained enough that I could wear it almost anywhere including professional settings, and in almost any type of weather, without it becoming overwhelming. I love Lancôme's rose gourmands, for instance, and this one is indeed a little reminiscent of those, but they could easily feel much too conspicuous for some context, and on a warm day they could easily become too much. That's much less the case for this softer, subtler, friendlier rose: the only time I wouldn't consider it is during the hottest days of summer. Usually, I go on a date with afragrance I like several times, but for some reason, that didn't happen with Rose Rouge, and I met her again after many months. The bright sun was shining; I was wearing a light dress; I opened the white box of Van Cleef And Arpels's Collection Extraordinaire Miniature Set, took out Rose Rouge, sprayed, expecting that strawberry-chocolate-pink joy, and…

Rose Rouge seemed delicious to me: a dessert of raspberry jam, ripe strawberries, and dark chocolate, wrapped in rose petals soaked in wine. Gradually, the petals fill with life, turn into a rose, and absorb and dissolve the strawberries, raspberry jam, and wine. Only bitter chocolate powder settles on the velvet of the petals. It's not the most unique scent profile and smells a bit like a couple other fragrances in my collection. It has a similar profile to Roses Vanille but Rose Rouge is much smoother and easier to wear. The rose is similar to that in Lush Rose Jam, but this one is more complex and interesting. There is a more distant similarity to Lancome Roses Berberanza, the rose and spiced vanilla base are quite similar, but the Lancome fragrance has strong nutty notes that Rose Rouge does not. I like Roses Berberanza in colder weather and Rose Rouge in more moderate temperatures. Even though Rose Rouge is not unique, it is one of the nicer of the fragrances with similar scent profiles and if I could only have on I would probably chose Rose Rouge. Hard to describe , this Rose is a mature Rose, red for sure, and in full bloom. Opulent, rich smelling and sensual, I think it's meant to seduce... Not that men are prone to love roses, but it has a gourmand tint, a fleshy reference to the very nature of femininity . The lasting power is good on me, with above average silage.... Yet it's not strong, there is a transparency here which clashes with the voluptuous nature of this Rose, giving it contrast and mystery . The honey note morphs into a woody note towards the end of the development, making this scent even more intriguing,

My Account

I have a mini purse spray on the way of Rose Rouge coming the end of the month in my fragrance subscription. And all the rest of my subscription is filled w/ fragrances from this brand, and I am looking forward to trying them all. A nice perfume friend here gave me a sample of First and a sample of Van Cleef. First was to green for me but I really love Van Cleef and am sad that it is no longer available and discontinued. I plan on wearing it soon, I have to blow out my samples. I have a sugary rose w/ chocolate in my collection Love Chopard and I will compare it to Rose Rouge. Fingers crossed she will not turn into a monster for me! I love the "scary holiday" Halloween, the legends of Samhain, and the aesthetic of the Day of the Dead.I have repeatedly compiled fragrances suitable for these holidays and the weeks leading up to them: fragrances with which you can create the right mood and image.I know probably all the perfumes created with a Halloween aesthetic and a hint of gothic (even if they seem unsuccessful or unbearable to me). EDIT 1: I smelled it again on a sweater that I sprayed with this scent on a couple of days before and surprisingly, I actually started to like it more. I guess it's meant for going out during colder evenings. The warm spicy note is prominent. If you like patchouli, benzoin, cacao combination, this scent may be for you. I blind-bought it on online sale from one of department stores without properly testing it, and it turned out to be not for me.

EDIT 2: l think a man could definitely pull it off as well. Especially the opening. The scent is warm spicy, but not in a very feminine, sweet way.Update: This one really improves on the drydown. The cocoa notes are coming through for me, at long last, and I'm getting a vanillic creaminess that wasn't here before. It reminds me a bit of a Montale, only with all the incensey, oudlike notes removed and somewhat more demure musks. The only danger with this one is that I become slightly anosmic to it and might overspray. The cocoa-rose-liqueur effect is enchanting! In fact, I think I'm going to upgrade this one to a love. I'm glad I chose it for my monthly subscription purse spray; this seems like one I will get a lot of wear from this autumn and winter. I picture armloads of red roses surrounded by open boxes of Valentine's truffles. Not getting the drunken-Halloween-rose that Elena described so memorably, but there's still time, I guess. If such unruliness does develop, I think I might let this rose get me soused and make out with me--why not? I'm not going anywhere. Its sensual floral heart is composed of Turkish Rose Essence and a unique rose that perfectly expresses the botanical sensations of the rose plant. In the base notes an unexpected gourmand influence (cocoa absolute) mingles with the refined notes of a modern chypre composed of precious woods patchouli and vetiver.

Rose Rouge was charming. But I didn't trust her anymore.I could answer her with words from the same song, " Et je n'y croirais jamais plus."I can't trust her anymore... This reminds me a little bit of Lancôme Rôses Berberanza, but it's not exactly the same, Rose Rouge is much softer and less opulent, like a light and fluffy, more versatile version of this scent profile. In this case the rich and loud version works better for me though.

The performance is pretty solid.I has fairly strong projection for 3-4 hours, but then settles quite close to the skin for the rest of the wear. Although it stays fairly soft it lasts all day, at least 10 hours on skin. I can smell it on clothing the nest day. It's a nice, evening type of perfume. If you like daring and potent perfumes, it might be for you. It's too much for me, unfortunately. I prefer light and subtle scents. I was negatively disposed toward Rose Rouge before I tested it: I read that this one replaced Rouge Velours, which I recently tested and liked very much, and which in my opinion didn't need replacing. But having tested this one, I have to say it's even better, and although it's still a shame about Rose Velours, this is the one I would have kept in my collection if I had to choose only one as well.
