We had a birthday party for Vihaan the weekend before his birthday (his birthday was on Monday and the party was on Saturday; shared every detail of the birthday party in this post) and on his actual birthday which was March 7th we went to the temple in the morning (pictures of this are also coming soon) and in the afternoon, we had a Jungle theme cake smash for him at home. Typically smash cakes are vanilla, confetti, or any other white cake topped with buttercream frosting. This allows them to get messy, without being overly distracting from the final images. There are so many well-known characters and films that there are vast possibilities when it comes to cake smashes. You can’t go wrong with lots of white … add in the pastels of your choice from blush to sky, and watch the shoot come together effortlessly and beautifully. Pancake Smash! We choose a jungle theme photo cake, the baker recommend whipping cream frosting over buttercream when we asked for less sweet options. They made a vanilla sponge cake with luscious whipping cream frosting. I am glad we asked for green stripes on the side instead of plain white, it looked beautiful with the whole decor. The cake wasn’t fancy looking but it was delicious, I am glad we didn’t spend a lot on it as most of it ended up in the trash.I love everything about this sweet display of cupcakes. When I make cupcakes, I tend to make them all the same size and frost them the same. This collection of Where the Wild Things Are cupcakes in different sizes and flavors and designs is just…perfect. It’s so perfectly sweet and arranged on the wood tray.
