Regular exercise helps relieve stress and also helps you to stay at a healthy weight, most days you should aim to do half an hour to an hour of moderate activity. Choose something you enjoy such as swimming, walking or dancing. The unique formulation contains: Myo-inositol + Folic Acid + Alpha-lactalbumin; making it 52% more effective than myo-inositol alone. As well as the Inositol, and other various supplements, I took Soy Isoflavones on CD3-8. The theory is that they act in a similar way to Clomid - kind of like nature’s Clomid, to Inositol serving as nature’s Metformin. I was staggered when I ovulated on CD20! When you start IVF you have to be scanned on your period to make sure the lining of the womb is thin. In terms of the other symptoms of PCOS, much to my dismay I’ve not noticed a significant difference in weight or hirsutism 😓 the myo-inositol did a LOT for regulating my cycle, I mean it still is no 28 day cycle but I was able to have a nice 35 day average and I always knew it was definitely coming. Before starting the supplements I would go 2-3 months with nothing (sometimes more) and it would be an unpleasant surprise whenever AF did decide to show up 😩😅

Donne, M et al. Effects of three treatment modalities (diet, myoinositol or myoinositol associated with D-chiro-inositol) on clinical and body composition outcomes in women with polycystic ovary syndrome. Eur Rev Med Pharmacol Sci 2019; 23 (5): 2293-230 Inofolic has recently changed to Inofolic Alpha. Inofolic Alpha’s unique formulation is an effective treatment for PCOS, helping to control your PCOS symptoms such as weight loss, reducing acne and treating unwanted hair growth, as well as helping to restore ovulation and improve egg quality. If you have PCOS, you may find it difficult to conceive. Inofolic Alpha, the PCOS supplement of choice, has been developed especially for you. I suffer with a lot of spots on my chest and shoulder areas for many many years & I have notice a big difference! A lot of the spots have cleared up! I still have some remaining but nowhere near as many as before. MO22 I know how that feels with it being raw still, coincidentally my pregnancy ended exactly 3 weeks ago today 😔 I spend the first week in a complete state of reorganising my whole life but finally slammed the breaks to a halt the 2nd week in, to finally grieve properly. I think we will always be left wondering what we could’ve done better or differently when it comes to a loss like ours and I think PCOS has a lot to do with it unfortunately. What’s helped for me lately, has been focusing on TTC and I must admit I have gone a bit mad with the OPKs as well!

When I originally stopped the tablets it took 9 days for any bleeding which should have taken 2-3 days. If you have PCOS, you have excess androgens (male hormones) in your body, often due to insulin resistance and inflammation. This means that you may not get a surge of LH (Luteinizing hormone) each month. LH is made in your pituitary gland and a surge of LH tells the ovaries to complete maturation of the egg and release it. Without the LH surge, you do not ovulate even though you may still have regular periods. It is recommended for patients who suffer from Poly Cystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) as they often have impaired insulin secretion or impaired insulin sensitivity. This results in high levels of glucose which leads to even more insulin being produced, which can lead to impaired fertility by increasing testosterone levels resulting in anovulation (no egg being released) and irregular periods.

There are many reasons why so many of us have difficulties with fertility. With 1 in 6 couples needing medical help to get pregnant and the causes of infertility being almost equally spread between men and women, it’s important to understand what factors can impact your fertility. Aside from any obvious medical health problems, lifestyle choices, environmental factors, diet and age can affect the chances of getting pregnant. For example, fertility in women starts to drop after reaching 35. This is because the age of the egg is a critical factor in achieving pregnancy. Women with PCOS often have difficulty ovulating and therefore have problems conceiving. Epidemiological studies have shown environmental factors have played a part in sperm counts dropping over the last 50 years and this trend continues. Even men with a ‘normal’ sperm count can have other problems such as DNA fragmentation, which can cause infertility and increase the incidence of miscarriage. Optimise your fertilityThe menopause causes a drop in the production of female hormones such as estrogen and progesterone, which eventually causes you to stop ovulating (technically a full year without a period signals the start of the menopause). Women with PCOS may already have low levels of progesterone before the menopause takes place.
