So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.” What Is the Significance of Mary and Joseph's Entrance? We also know Mary never had any relations with Joseph and both were chosen by God to be Jesus’ earthly parents. When they did make it to their destination, Jesus was birthed in a manger. Our King of kings wasn’t born in a palace or a home for that matter. He was birthed in a stable which was used as a shelter to keep animals out of the elements. Because there was no room to lay him anywhere, Mary laid him in a feeding trough. From the onset of His birth, He becomes the sacrifice as He was wrapped in bandages foreshadowing the day of His death. And the feeding trough becomes an altar. Thus, the manger becomes a reference to the table of God in which we are invited to receive the Bread of Life. Unlike other donkeys that people know for their large size, this donkey is prized for its small size. A miniature donkey cannot stand more than 3 feet tall. For this type of donkey, the size and coloring greatly affect its price. Poitou Donkey

Did Mary and Joseph’s Entrance into Bethlehem Really Include Mary on a Donkey?

Let’s look at this verse in a slightly larger context: “Do not give what is holy to the dogs; nor cast your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you in pieces” (Matthew 7:6). Here we have dogs, pearls, swine and someone being ripped to shreds. Did Jesus have any pets?

Without donkeys, farmers would have difficulty harvesting and transporting their crops. Sheep and goat herds would be subject to predation. And, donkey meat and milk is just as nutritious and beneficial as cow or goat milk (and some would argue that it’s even more valuable in that respect).

Enter the dragon?

Matthew 21:7 “They brought the donkey and the colt and placed their cloaks on them for Jesus to sit on.” What Does the Bible Actually Tell Us about Their Entrance? The film opens in Nazareth where Mary (voice of Gina Rodriguez) is praying. An angel (voice of Joel McCrary) descends from Heaven and tells Mary that she is to bear the son of God. A pygmy mouse named Abby (voice of Kristen Chenoweth) sees the whole thing and spreads the word to the other animals in the town. They look up in the sky and see a bright star. Where did Mary and Joseph travel from to get to Bethlehem, where Jesus was born? Many stories exist as to why Joseph, and a heavily pregnant Mary riding on a donkey, took their five-day journey (possibly longer) from Nazareth to Bethlehem, often referred to as the Nativity Trail. Why was there no room at the inn? In most houses, invoking the holy trinity of J, M and J from the mouth of either of your parents usually meant the neighbour’s youngest had gone and got pregnant, your brother had broken one of the ‘good’ plates or you’d done something REALLY bad. Why did Joseph take Mary to Bethlehem?

Only two parts of the Bible talk about Jesus’ birth: the Gospels of Luke and Matthew. Mark and John skip over Jesus’ infancy and head straight to his adult life. So how similar are the narratives of Matthew and Luke to the version familiar to anyone who has attended a Christmas church service or children’s nativity play? Christmas carols such as Away In A Manger sing about the cattle lowing – and in Little Drummer Boy they keep time. There’s even a song called Little Donkey about the beast that carries Mary to Bethlehem in our vision of the Christmas story. But do these images appear in the actual Gospels? Once all the miniature donkeys have been found and returned to Mary, the player is rewarded with 500 Jorvik shillings and 10 player XP after collecting the "Disappearing Donkeys" followed by a saddlebag pet plushie of a donkey after collecting the "Determined Disappearing Donkeys." Scripture from: Isaiah, Matthew, Luke, and John. A Christmas message from “In the Bleak Midwinter” Christmas-themed Videos Mary takes the donkey in and names him Bo, and reveals to Joseph that she is pregnant, with Joseph accepting Mary’s situation after praying to God. Why do the Irish say Jesus Mary and Joseph? From nativity plays to crèche sets to Christmas cards, animals are ubiquitous in our vision of the birth of Christ – but according to the Bible, not a single animal was there. Where did all these animals come from, and why are they now so central to the story? And they carried a lot of bread. . . . Breakfast would be dried bread, lunch would be oil with bread, and herbs with oil and bread in the evening.” The hardships did not end when Joseph and Mary arrived in Bethlehem. Jesus’ triumphant return to Jerusalem. When Jesus rides through the gates of Jerusalem on a young, unbroken donkey, it sent the message that “Your King is coming to you: He is righteous and victorious. He is humble and rides on a donkey”. A servant of the people, Jesus chose to ride a humble donkey rather than be carried in the fine trappings of a horse-drawn chariot.

So all went to be enrolled, each to his own town. And Joseph too went up from Galilee from the town of Nazareth to Judea, to the city of David that is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David, to be enrolled with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child. While they were there, the time came for her to have her child, and she gave birth to her firstborn son. (Luke 2:3-7) The group arrives in Bethlehem and tries to find shelter, but everywhere is full.
