Description

The fun times aren’t just for the VII and XVI Legions, however – the book also provides full rules for playing games of Zone Mortalis, fresh core and narrative missions, a new campaign system, Legiones Decurion upgrades to represent skilled tank commanders, the Infernus Abomination for the Traitor Legions, and rules and lore for Inductii of every Legion – unstable Astartes hastily recruited while the Heresy was in full swing.* Campaigns of The Age of Darkness: The Siege of Cthonia (ePub) We’re working hard on Warhammer Community next week, bringing you Faction Focus articles for the Adeptus Mechanicus, Aeldari, and more, alongside further analysis of some meaty units from the Leviathan boxed set, a new miniature reveal, and more. This upgrade kit comprises 10 resin components and is designed to be assembled with the MKVI Tactical Squad set, which is sold separately. These components are supplied unpainted and require assembly – we recommend using Citadel Colour paints. Ultramarines MKVI Heads: January 21st, 2023 This set comprises 344 plastic components, and is supplied with 20x Citadel 32mm Round Bases and a Legiones Astartes Infantry Transfer Sheet. These miniatures are supplied unpainted and require assembly. Artificer Armour: A common upgrade on most (if not all) infantry units for space marine sergeants/unit leaders is artificer armour. It’s just about always 10 points and gives that model a 2+ armour save instead of the 3+ armour save most of the unit will have. This is basically an automatic upgrade. It means you can choose to tank higher AP weapons on a 2+ save instead of taking lots of 3+ and in duels are more likely to get an armour save against many weapons (assuming your opponent doesn’t roll their rending/breaching). It’s a small cost for what could be a lot of durability. That said you want to be careful about choosing to take so many saves on your unit leader; unless joined by another character many space marine units have a low Leadership characterstic – only 7 or 8, while the sergeant’s will be higher. Taking that wound and losing the higher point of Ld leaves your unit far more vulnerable to things like Pinning and Morale. If another character has joined the unit, especially a high profile one like a Praetor or Consul, then you can try and tank as many wounds as possible on that 2+ until you fail it, and potentially save numerous marines because of it. Or you roll a 1 on the first roll. Either can happen.

If you prefer a more punishing arsenal, then the first Heavy Weapons Upgrade Set comes with 10 missile launchers and 10 heavy bolters, along with all the arms you’ll need to “arm” every pose of MKVI Space Marine as a Heavy Support Squad. These weapons are perfect for disposing of armour or shredding elite infantry, and the kit also comes with four augury scanners. There are two full Kill Teams in the box. The Chaos Cult weighs in at 23 previously available miniatures, including the Dark Commune and a glut of Chaos Cultists. These lesser devotees can mutate mid-battle, exploding in a mess of flesh and bone as they become vile Mutants and horrifying Torments.

Line Sub Type: These are the only scoring units in your army. Unlike other games, only Line units are able to take, hold, and deny objectives, making them very important to field to be able to score points and win games. Some other units gain this sub type through Rites of War but they’re most commonly on your Troops (but not all of them!).

My only real gripe about the kit is there are only 5 poses for the leg/torso part, so you end up with a lot of repetition in a unit of 20, and the mix of 2 walking and 3 standing wide poses makes it hard to have a uniform appearance. This kit also includes the components to equip Legionaries with up to two plasma guns, two melta guns, two flamers, two heavy bolters, and two missile launchers – note that these options are not valid for a Legion Tactical Squad as found in the Liber Astartes rulebooks, but can be used to create a Legion Veteran Squad, reinforce your Legion Tactical Support or Heavy Support Squads, or build Tactical Squads for games of Warhammer 40,000. Match your MkII Torsos with a set of 10 resin Crusade-era shoulder pads – great for elite units and giving your important characters a dash of veteran flair. This set comprises 352 plastic components, and is supplied with 20x Citadel 32mm Round Bases and 1x Legiones Astartes Infantry Transfer Sheet. These miniatures are supplied unpainted and require assembly – we recommend using Citadel Plastic Glue and Citadel paints.

This upgrade kit can be used to customise Legionaries from the MKVI Tactical Squad set with new heads, replacing the standard helmets with ostentatious headgear suited to the Thousand Sons. The kit includes nine helmeted heads in three different designs, each with crested brow circlets, as well as two heads designed for Sergeants – one bare, bald head with an air of contemplation, and one helm with a larger crest and more prominent jewel. Spread these components around your army to add some XV Legion flavour, or outfit entire squads for an elite, unified look. Thousand Sons MKVI Shoulder Pads: January 21st, 2023 This multipart plastic kit builds 20 Space Marine Legionaries, which can be fielded in games of Warhammer: The Horus Heresy as a Legion Tactical Squad of 20 models, or two units of 10 models. Each of these Legionaries is armed with a Umbra-pattern bolter and bolt pistol, with a variety of additional components such as grenades and pouches, and can also be equipped with a bayonet or chain bayonet for melee fighting. You can also build up to two Legionaries with a Legion vexilla, two with a nuncio-vox, and two with an augury scanner. Accessories and alternate heads are included to build a Legion Tactical Sergeant for each of your squads – the kit offers a variety of extra weapon options for these unit leaders, including plasma pistols, power swords, power fists, and lightning claws. These models have no Legion markings, allowing Warhammer hobbyists to paint them in whichever colours they choose – however, the box includes a transfer sheet with 339 optional markings and iconography for the Sons of Horus and Imperial Fists Legions.

This set of 11 detailed resin heads adds some malignant variety to your MKVI Legion Tactical Squads. There are three sets of three different designs, plus a bare-headed option criss-crossed with battle scars, and a magnificent helmet with a traditional top-knot fit for a Praetor. Chain bayonets also have the Shred rule so will re-roll all failed wound rolls too, making them even more deadly and reliable. This smörgasboard of Horus Heresy goodness doesn’t stop there – the fine minds at Forge World are also getting in on the action. The PrimarchsThis upgrade kit can be used to customise your Space Marines with alternative heads bearing the imagery of the XIII Legion. The kit includes nine helmeted heads, each with an eagle-winged face plate and crest, plus one bare head. Spread these components around your army and combine them with transfers to capture that signature XIII Legion aesthetic, or outfit entire squads to mark them out as elite Legion Veteran Squads. Ultramarines MKIII Veteran Torsos: December 17th, 2022 This upgrade kit comprises 10 resin components and is designed to be assembled with the MKVI Tactical Squad set, which is sold separately. These components are supplied unpainted and require assembly – we recommend using Citadel Colour paints. Salamanders MKVI Shoulder Pads: January 6th, 2022
