Maintain their core feel – The strength of Idoneth has been their hit and run tactics. The army excels at several rapid strikes from glass cannon units, and then taking off to do it again. This feeling has been maintained, and strengthened. Hit your peak on the turn you want –Rituals have been changed to now be a once a game ability used on a specific turn of the game, allowing you to put all your energy into the turn you want to dominate in. For the uninitiated, campaign books are the “expansion content”, for want of a better phrase, that comes in each battlebox. Both FauxHammer himself and I would recommend all hobbyists have a look at Monument Hobbies’ Olive, Tan and Shadow Flesh paints. These are excellent paints, great for mixing and blending and will be a good tool to have in your arsenal when it comes to painting skin – particularly Duardin flesh, which tends to be much ruddier than other skin tones. Today we look at how to play Idoneth Deepkin of Age of Sigmar. Here’s how to hit those landlubbers like a tidal wave!

The Akhelian Thrallmaster is the second of two new miniatures currently exclusive to the Fury of the Deep box set. In spite of being a build with a surprisingly large number of components, the Akhelian Thrallmaster goes together with ease. All the wargear, as we call it, that is included in this set comes on a single push-out perforated board. These are the tokens and range rulers that are designed to be used to help facilitate play of the Fury of the Deep expansion. Tokens If you want to break tradition and field a lot of foot troops I think this will be a go-to, as it basically lets you do Mighty Destroyers from Ironjawz, with a smaller unit pool. Against them is an Idoneth raiding party consisting of 10 Namarti Thralls , 10 Namarti Reavers , and a blood-thirsty Akhelian Allopex . player, 5-round Grand Tournament in England, GB on October 21 2023. All the lists for this event can be found in Best Coast Pairings. Mike Stewart – Fuethán – 1st PlaceAs has become the standard in newer books, there’s an attempt to pare down the number traits and artefacts in the book to replace quantity with quality. There are still an impressive number here, with 3 for 3 different types of heroes: Akhelians, Isharanns and Eidolons. Low Tide –Your units all count as being in cover. This pairs well with Forgotten Nightmares, while Deepkin have some pretty gnarly ranged damage available to it most of your damage is from hit and run strikes, and most of the army has some pretty mediocre saves so you’ll want the help to getting your units up the field. Wont help much against mortal wound spam but against normal strikes with rend, you’ll be glad it’s there.

He’s a nice model, too: covered in details and sculpted really well, his flaming axe really helps add to the overall gravitas of the figure. He’ll look smashing at the front of your armies. Auric Hearthguard High Tide –Alright this is the big one. Everything in your army gets strike first! This is the time to get everything into melee and hit hard, which most of your army is tuned for. This makes turn 3 a turning point, especially since most missions have you pulling an objective which can tip the scales of power. One other interesting thing to note is the rules only work when affected by a specific tide of death, so if you have any abilities that manipulate the tides or grant their bonus to units it’s possible to gain the benefits on “off” turns as well.Like all aelves, Namarti Thralls possess a physical grace that to other races appears almost supernatural. The Thralls march to war for the Idoneth as the main body of infantry, and it is their task to screen their comrades, then to engage and hold the foe in place. This allows the swifter-moving Akhelians a chance to strike where they deem best. It is a grim prospect, for casualties are often high amongst the Namarti Thralls, but it is a duty they willingly accept. Although they often resent their lower-caste status, the Namarti realise that every successful raid secures more souls for their enclave. This resource is first used to ensure the survival of newborn Namarti, but the excess is used to replenish the diminishing souls of the adults. Such motivation is more than enough to ensure that the Namarti Thralls are caught up in the tides of war, ever eager to capture more spirit-stuff. The Aspect of the Sea includes an open-faced helmet and is armed with psi-trident and a deep-sea Sceptre. The Aspect of the Storm instead carries Fuathtar, Spear of Repressed Fury and crulhook, and wears a closed helm with a net-styled crest.

Now, finally we get the ground up rewrite that the army really needed. It’s time to see if Teclis’s abandoned offspring get the opportunity to shine like they always deserved. Why Play Idoneth Deepkin? The Idoneth Battletome contains rules for six different Enclaves, each of which has a unique faction rule, and a mixture of relics, command traits, and spells. But by far the most important factor for the Idoneth are their Battle Traits.

Mount Traits

Standing against him is an Auric Flamekeeper, a Fyreslayer warrior priest who presides over a Lodge’s funerary rites.

To be frank, when GW changed the Ork and Space Marine base sizes from 25mm to 32mm, that probably killed off a chunk of the "We have to keep up with the official base size changes" crowd. Because rebasing a squad is one thing, rebasing your entire collection is another.

Warscroll Changes

The Auric Flamekeeper is one of two new models exclusive to this box set. Whilst these will no doubt be released separately in the near-ish future, collectors particularly keen to get their hands on some brand-new and original plastic will want to take note.
