Description

It can be used on any plants without affecting them, including edible or ornamental plants growing in the ground (unlike insecticides). The boards are placed face down directly onto the ground beneath your plants. The adult beetles will crawl into the grooves looking for a sheltered spot to hide in during the day. The nematodes in the gel will then infect the adult beetles and safely kill them without harming anything else - these traps are safe for children, pets and wildlife. Once the nematodes have been mixed with water at the recommended rate, apply in the recommended volume of water per m 2. This water volume is specified by some suppliers and not others. All equipment, regardless of application method, should be cleaned/flushed prior to nematode application, particularly if it has previously been used for a plant protection product that is harmful to nematodes. Application to the root zone

Vine weevils are common pests that feed on over 200 species of plant, including fuschia and rhododendron, as well as berry fruits, like strawberries and raspberries. They are ideal for protecting hedges, patio gardens, raised beds or amongst your most vulnerable or valuable plants. Position Nematop Adult Vine Weevil Traps in the summer when adult vine weevils are at their most active. When applying to strawberry crops, drench each plant individually around the base of the plant and avoid run-off over any polythene around the planting hole. Irrigate immediately Adult vine weevils nibble on your plant leaves at night, but it’s actually the larvae that do most of the damage by eating your roots in the soil.Inactive during the day they come to life at night when they eat the edges of leaves. If you suspect wine weevil damage take a trip out to your plants an hour or so after dark with a torch. The beetles play dead if they suspect they are being observed but you will see them on leaves and nearby quite clearly if they are there. They are most commonly found from April to early August and are about 10mm long (just under half an inch). A few species out of the 20,000, such as pinworm, are harmful to humans, but these are rare. Most species play a very important role in nutrient cycling and release of nutrients for plant growth.

Mix this powder in a 1.5L watering can and water the area, preferably the ants nest. Keep the soil moist for two weeks.More serious is the damage can becaused by the soil-dwelling larvae, which are plump, white, legless grubs up to 10mm (about 3/8in)long with pale brown heads. These eat the roots of a wide range of plants andcan bore into tubers of cyclamen and begonia, and into stem bases of cacti and succulents. They can kill woody plants by gnawing away the outer tissues of the larger roots and stem bases. Most plant losses occur during September to March, when the grubs are becoming fully grown. Eggs start off white, but turn brown before they hatch, making them very difficult to spot in soil.
