Now your Toniebox is all setup and ready for some Tonies fun! Next thing you might want to know is how to set up all the likely characters they'll collect. Ready-to-play Tonie figures comes pre-loaded with songs and stories from your favourite characters. Take bedtime stories wherever you travel with Audiobook Tonies from Disney and Julia Donaldson, or dance along to Music Tonies with fun songs. Each hand-painted Tonie features a cute character design for playtime on and off the Toniebox. As one of the top toys for little ones, the Toniebox is adored by millions of families which is why you’re probably on the hunt for one yourself. However, if you’re yet to know all that the Toniebox has to offer, let’s recap so you can shop with confidence.

The joy of singing together during Christmas time can lift everyone's spirits and create unforgettable memories as a family. And with the Tonies Favourite Children's Songs and Carols character, you and your little one can take musical moments to a whole new level! But with plenty of cheap smart speakers available to pair with a parents’ smartphone, is it really worth investing in an audio player specifically designed for kids? We asked mum of two Bethan and her 5-year-old to test out the Toniebox. Here’s what they thought… Our verdict at a glance We live in a time when we are bombarded with new toys and products for children on a daily basis! The shelves in the shops are overflowing with all these things we are made to believe our kids need; only to learn that today’s latest thing will be old school tomorrow! On average, Disney Tonies only last a measly 22 minutes, whereas a recent sleepy Tonie I bought – Lullaby Melodies with Sleepy Sheep– lasts a whopping 140 minutes. Read next: Yoto Mini vs Toniebox: which is the best screen-free audio player? How child-friendly is it? It took me a good half an hour to set up the Toniebox when it arrived. Connecting it to the internet was easy enough. I followed the steps on the included setup guide. You need to make sure the recipient has 2.4GhZ wifi before you buy. Once connected to the internet, your Toniebox is ready for use.

Perhaps the battery has run down completely. Please put the Toniebox on the charging station for at least 30 minutes and then try again to switch it on. Visit my.tonies.com/wifi and follow the instructions. For this you can use whatever device you prefer. Providing hours of screen-free entertainment, the Toniebox can help little ones learn, play, sing and drift off to sleep thanks to a varied collection of decorated characters. You can even select Creative Tonies characters that let you record your own stories or audio segments! The Toniebox is an audiobox that plays the stories related to the beautifully painted figurines that sit on top of the box. Tonieboxes are designed for children aged three years and up, although I'd say that they can be used by younger children, too. My children have used them from around the age of a year and a half, when they particularly enjoyed the musical Tonies and songs. Obviously, the older they get, the more engaged they will be with all the stories available. What Is The Point Of A Toniebox? The Toniebox is a robust (mine have been thrown around the room and into various car boots many times) music and story box. The square Toniebox is an audio player that's really easy to operate (for tiny hands, too). You buy Tonies (there are over 200 available) which are really cute characters that the child then places on top of the Toniebox to start playing that particular story (musical Tonies are also available). The Toniebox is made with toddlers and young children in mind. They can navigate through the story by tapping the sides and control the volume using the box’s “ears”, but our five-year-old tester found it difficult to operate and not as sensitive as it could be.

We have amassed quite the collection of Content Tonies since buying the Toniebox just over a year ago, and one thing I’ve noticed is that the quality of the Tonies do vary. The Toniebox is the ultimate in portable, easy-to-use audio player. It can play music and share stories from your favourite characters with just a squeeze of an ear and connect via magnetic points on the top of the cube. Place the Toniebox on the charging station (while connected to the power supply) and then turn them both upside down so the ears are pointing downwards.

Final verdict: Toniebox review

The Toniebox is a child-friendly audio player designed to engage children with storytelling and music in a fun and interactive way. It is a box-shaped device available in a variety of colours, and works with a collection of hand-painted figures called "Tonies" which are essentially characters that hold the audio content. Children simply place the Tonie on top of the Toniebox, and the audio content starts playing automatically. The Toniebox’s simple design is intended to be easy for young children to use.
