About this deal

The speaker and activist was also joined by local musician Martin Livingstone, who performed some of his original songs. Martin also shared how his past experience of engaging with West Lothian Youth Action Project encouraged his passion for music, which ultimately helped him to pursue his musical career. Aidan Martin's Europhic Recall does exactly that. It's a pandora's box of a book, in that it tells a story of addiction, abuse, pain, and cancer, but of hope too. A recovering drug addict has graduated from a Glasgow University with a Masters degree after vowing to ‘never give up hope’. We're an online publication set out to entertain, educate and engage writers and readers of creative nonfiction. We also have a books division and bring our mission to life with an annual writing conference.

AM: The recovery scene isn’t for everyone and I respect that. So, I think I was keeping in mind that a non-addict reading this may have felt that the recovery scene was a bit airy-fairy or like a religion when the reality is nothing of the sort. I am not an airy-fairy kind of guy either. LL: In another section you wrote, “There is nothing wrong with a fun fetish between consenting adults.” One thing I think you do very nicely is to draw a line between healthy sexuality that some people might find atypical, and unhealthy sexuality that causes harm to participants. You also wrote about sex addiction versus degradation addiction, which is a very nuanced and important conversation. Do you have any ideas about educating people about the difference? Aidan is a very talented writer! Not only that, he should be should be proud of himself for overcoming so much diversity! AM: Yes! I am already four chapters into a Scottish mystery novel set in the early 2000’s. It is based around the dying trance scene. It looks at a very specific time for lads in Scotland who had nothing else to live for but drugs and music. It is based in West Lothian (the county I grew up in) and is character driven. I realized there is no need to create characters out of thin air when I grew up with so many vibrant, edgy people. It was a normal way of life to get involved in substances, there was just nothing there for us so I never considered college.Sinn Fein/Provisional IRA in Monaghan Town, protected many child-rapists within their ranks. One of the most prolific child rapists was Michael Lynagh, who was Jim Lynagh's older brother by 3-years. I read this book in 24 hours , i was absolutely gripped from the beginning. The author of this book is extremely talented with the way he describes thoughts and feelings relating to different events in his journey, you feel in that moment with him and expirence all the emotions together it is very easy to imagine, there is a mixture of happiness and sadness and proper out loud laughter! Real raw context within. I really look forward to following this journey! And also already jumping with excitement at the thought of another book! Thank you so much Aiden Martin you should be extremely proud! A truly essential read for those interested in lived experiences—and not just statistics."— Darren 'Loki' McGarvey, author of Poverty Safari (Orwell Prize 2018). AM: I think it all comes down to motive. There is a huge difference between having fun with other consenting adults and putting yourself in a dangerous situation. We need to have more conversations about fetish and sex. Fetish can be massively rewarding between consenting adults. So long as no one is being harmed adults should be allowed to do what they wish with one another. When I am in a healthy place I can better make decisions about how I want to express myself sexually. However, when I was very unwell I found myself seeking out pain and abuse. That is a different world altogether because there are people out there who can exploit that. remains undiscovered in the Moors of north Monaghan. The kidnapping, torture, murder and secret burial of Columba, identical to the crimes committed by Myra Hindley and Ian Brady in England in the 1960s.

I woke up the next day feeling peculiar. I found it significantly easier to tell those close to me that I love them. How did this happen to me? To a person rather reserved with their feelings..... Aidan's honesty and open presentation was good to hear. His bravery in sharing his life was refreshing." He says he applauds the Scottish Government for ‘holding their hands up’ and admitting drastic measures are needed to help lower drug deaths.Aiden explained: “I thought I was daft with no academic bone in my body, but after volunteering at a shelter I felt the buzz of helping others and knew I wanted to go to college and try. Aidan’s childhood friend, Mark Deans created the cover image for Euphoric Recall. Mark is an artist and musician based in Livingston.
