About this deal

The distillery is still overseen by fourth and fifth-generation members of the family who strive to maintain and honor the memory of their beloved founder.

This rum is particularly smooth. It seems to slide down the throat easily and yet that is not to imply that it is at all bland or tasteless or overly syruppy. It's just smooth. I've no idea why that is, but it is. The nose is sweet and inviting with notes of toasted oak and creme brulee. The palate is initially sweet which leads to a little oiliness. In the middle, you’ll find notes of traditional Trinidad rum with mineral notes and flavors of vanilla, nutmeg, and butterscotch. The mouthfeel is thin and easy to sip. 3. Ron Barcelo Gran Anejo Barcelo Imperial is sold in an open front cardboard box display which highlights the bottle within. It is a large flask style bottle which oozes elegance and style. A solid dense cork topper completes the bottle design and gives the rum a nnice ‘wow’ factor. Barceló was founded in 1930 by Julian Barceló. During the 1980´s the brand established itself as a leader in the rum market and in 1992 started exporting to 10 countries. In 2001 a state of the art rum factory was built and today Barceló Rum is sold in over 40 countries. On the nose, you’ll find notes of roasted coffee, milk chocolate, and dried apricots. The palate is full-bodied with distinct notes of cherries, cinnamon, raisins, caramelized apples, candied oranges, and sweet strawberries. This wonderful medley of delightful flavors is topped off with a long, simple finish of toffee. 5. Brugal XV RumThe profile on this rum is complex, likely a result of the careful and deliberate aging process. The sugar cane is harvested from local plantations before being double-distilled in their copper stills. Julian Barcelo emigrated in 1929, moving from Spain to Santo Domingo where he founded Barcelo & Co. He began perfecting his craft before launching the Ron Barcelo label in 1950 which has grown into a well-known Dominican rum, distilled using only 100 percent Dominican sugar cane juice. With us, quality goes a step further. Ron Barceló is the only Dominican rum produced with 100% sugarcane juice from our own plantations. A bet on excellence that is conveyed to our products, thus confirming our company as an international benchmark in the industry, with a wide a variety of prestigious rums recognized worldwide for their innovation. Overall, the Ron Barcelo Imperial Rum is matured for ten years, finishing with two years in horizontal French oak barrels. This is contrary to the traditional vertical aging in bourbon barrels. Not a rum for beginners or for all palates. Very dry, smokey, leathery. I am sure it would be a great rum with a cigar, but I am not a smoker.

Ein gut ausbalancierter Ron und nicht so süss wie andere Ron aus der Dominikanischen Republik. Für Einsteiger und Geniesser. Barcelo Imperial rum is produced in the Dominican Republic using column stills before aged in white oak casks for up to 10 years. Very loosely we may put my scores into terms that you may be familiar with on a Gold, Silver, and Bronze medal scale as follows: The first sips bring forward a robust oakiness combined with impressions of dark brown sugar, vanilla, spices (nutmeg, allspice and cinnamon) and pipe tobacco. Those fresh copper pennies I noticed on the nose seem to have found expression as a sort of metallic coppery flavour (pop a penny in your mouth and you’ll know what I mean). I taste marzipan as well as canned apricots, and perhaps even a little orange marmalade as well. Bits of cola and dark chocolate complete the flavour profile which is much much better than I remember. In the Throat 13/15These rums, crafted from nectar from the finest selection of Dominican sugar cane juice, invite consumers to discover the world in every sip with their extraordinary profiles and enveloping flavours. Pour it into your glass. If not using a coconut, a highball glass is ideal, or something tall and round.

The finish is lengthened with flavours of dark toffee and baking spice. Hints of menthol provide a touch of cooling on the throat and then I notice a bittersweet chocolate fade. The Aftermath 9.0/10 Always committed to being one of the important references on the road to the premiumisation of the rum category, Ron Barceló now unveils its newest series of Rare Blends Collection rums, which stand out for their ageing in barrels from different latitudes that lead the consumer to explore the world in every sip. These superlative distillates are the result of blending the exclusive reserves of Barceló Imperial Rum, which have been aged for more than a decade under the meticulous attention of master rum maker Eduardo Galíndez. This one-of-a-kind rum, tailored for the most discerning palates, has aromas of figs and wild fruit jams that blend perfectly with the strong notes of butterscotch, dried cherries and smoked wood. On the palate very mild and soft, discreet caramel in chocolate coating, cream toffee vanilla cream, candied tropical fruits lie in a toasted wooden bowl.Could have a little more body, maybe it's the low vol.%?

Vizcaya represents a full product line from Oliver & Oliver, naming this expression after the impressive age of the spirit. It’s aged for an average of 18-21 years in bourbon barrels and is made from fresh cane juice instead of molasses. A younger expression from Brugal, their XV Rum is a blend of rums, aged first in white American oak barrels for three to eight years. They are then aged for an additional two to three years in ex Pedro Zimenex sherry casks. The result is the perfect combination of dry and sweet with incredible smoothness. Though it’s not aged nearly as long as the previous expression, this one is still top-notch. It contains a blend of rums that are aged for an average of six years. The Dominican environment is hot and humid which does increase the speed of aging. This expression is aged almost entirely in American bourbon barrels which are routinely scraped and re-charred to achieve the optimal flavor.

The exceptional characteristics of these new spirits represent the evolution of Ron Barceló Imperial, a brand that has won the world’s most important awards for its outstanding quality. With us, quality goes a step further. Ron Barceló is the only Dominican rum produced with 100% sugarcane juice from our own plantations. Julián Barceló měl velký sen, stvořit nejlepší rum na světe. Tenhle mladý Španěl dorazil do Santo Dominga v roce 1929, o rok později založil společnosti Barceló & Co. a brzy vyráběl své první rumy. Experimentoval s řadou různých značek, až se dopracoval k dokonalosti.
