To use as a mouthwash or gargle, 10-15ml of Eludril mouthwash should be put into the measuring cup provided. Dilute with lukewarm water to the upper line on the cup and use to rinse the mouth or gargle. This can be repeated two or three times a day. Read all of this leaflet carefully because it contains important information for you. This medicine is available without prescription. However, you still need to use Eludrilcarefully to get the best results from it. Chlorhexidine has also been shown to prevent the formation and build up of plaque on teeth, which helps prevent inflammation of the gums (gingivitis). If you forget to use a dose, use it as soon as you remember unless it is time for your next dose. Do not use a double dose to make up for a missed dose. There are currently no other mouthwashes available in the UK that contain both chlorhexidine gluconate and chlorbutanol hemihydrate as the active ingredients.

Eludril mouthwash is also suitable in the management of common mouth ulcers and oral candidal infections (fungus infection) and may be used as an add-on treatment for minorinfections of the throat.
