Immerse yourself in the fantasy setting with stunning artwork, 21 highly-detailed miniatures, full-colour tiles, and 10 brand-new quests not available in the base game. This expansion has limitless replayability, giving players the opportunity to forge their own epic quests and stories. The Frozen Horror expansion global launch date is August 1st, 2022, though it may be available in your region ahead of schedule. We’re so excited for this release that we’ve put together an introductory solo quest for any hero to attempt, along with additional playtest rules and errata.

HeroQuest - A Chilling Journey North – Hasbro Pulse

ADD TO YOUR COLLECTION OF MINIATURES: This tabletop board game expansion includes 21 finely detailed unpainted miniatures: Frozen Horror, Barbarian, Mercenaries, Ice Gremlins, Polar Warbears, and Yetis Revisit and delve deeper into the rich story of the HeroQuest dungeon crawling adventure game. With the Frozen Horror expansion, players must destroy the evil Frozen Horror, a ferocious creature long banished, but has now returned to its ancient seat of power, and awaits Zargon's summons. The powerful Barbarian must survive dangerous solo quests and only then will fellow heroes join him. Immerse yourself in the fantasy with the stunning artwork, 21 detailed miniatures, full-color tiles, and 10 exciting quests not seen in the initial HeroQuest Game System. (Requires HeroQuest Game System to play. Sold separately.) The game has limitless replayability, and you can also build their own quests and create their own stories. Gather friends together for an exciting night of tabletop gameplay in an epic battle of good and evil. The game is for 2-5 players, ages 14 and up. The third expansion for HeroQuest. Adds new monsters, mercenaries, artifacts, spells, traps, rooms, and a 10-quest adventure set in the Arctic. Extra dice (see through in one picture but apparently not in the other), extra movement dice for some reason... (still square corners and generic white pips on the movement cubes). An extra set for dice for Zargon, or just for fun. How cool (see what I did there?) would it be if they were actually German dice with different values than the standard combat dice, but I'm assuming they're just dupes of the game system. The first three quests can only be played by the Barbarian. If you are used to playing as a party, this can immediately be a turn-off, as everyone else watches instead of participating. As the Barbarian has to rely on healing potions that you can STILL only find via treasure cards, some bad dice rolls can badly impact the ability to progress or complete the solo quest. This expansion gives you more opportunities to delve deeper into the HeroQuest game, and adds to the replayability. Players can also create their own stories and build their own quests The Frozen Horror expansion includes full-color tiles, artifact cards, and quests that players haven't seen in previous editions of the HeroQuest Game System

Without seeing the booklet, there is no way to anticipate the quality of the edits to the original, but I'd be surprised if anything was play-tested or fixed given the treatment of the previous HQ2021 efforts. (Again I'd really like to be wrong). In this expansion, one player must take on the role of the barbarian, whose aim is to defeat the frozen horror and banish it to whence it came. All whilst the other player commands the chilling monstrosity that is the Frozen horror. That does mean that this adventure is not a soloable quest, as two players are required to command both forces. New monsters to keep players engaged and make it feel like you are in a different area from the previous campaigns I also love the frozen doors, new character sheets, and colored dice! If this is real and all the future expansions look like this, we're in for a real treat! The Frozen Horror looks good (and appears to be part dragon... frost wyrm?), but now appears to take up 4 (?) squares instead of only 2 with a large round, rather than an oval (as I would have expected) base. Text indicates that the Frozen Horror is an "it."

INCLUDES 10 EXCITING QUESTS: The Frozen Horror expansion includes full-color tiles, artifact cards, and quests that players haven't seen in previous editions of the HeroQuest Game System Just found on Reddit a bit ago ( https://www.reddit.com/r/Heroquest/comments/tta1gu/frozen_horror_looks_pretty_damn_amazing/). It's probably real? Looks real. Introducing mercenaries to provide players with badly needed support for this campaign and a way to spend their gold The Avalon Hill team uses an alternative to the roll to move mechanic in our playtesting. We included it in this quest so you could try it out! It keeps the drama of rolling double 1s (tripping on a loose dungeon cobblestone) in combat but keeps exploring brisk.Considering the number of miniatures you get, it is a very compact box. It complements the base game nicely, making all monsters and companions easily accessible. In Hero Quest fashion, all items fit into plastic moulded compartments. It stops everything moving around in transit, but some miniatures can feel too snug and offer a small challenge to get out. The Rulebook No pictures of cards yet... conspicuous by their absence... still working on them? I thought I was going a little overboard when I printed my customs with an icey-blue tint to them but that would fit perfectly with their overall theme here. Blue box instead of red, so no confusion with the original there. Magic ice tiles have a little dandelion design instead of the generic text ("magic ice") placed over an ice tile, I can get behind that change.

The rules are straightforward to get up to speed on, but given the small book, don’t expect too much room for pictures to break up the walls of text. Expect to spend a good few minutes reading through all of the additions and new aspects before you play. Game Setup Zatu has an excellent range of games and for most of them the best prices too. Delivery is always fast and I have never received a game in bad condition. 10/10 would recommend. Some of the hazards encountered in the quests are thematic but very damaging to heroes with little recourse.Estimated ship date subject to change, items may ship earlier or later than anticipated without notice
