When I asked my mother what my grandmother Lola looked like, she told me that there was only one family photo where she appeared and that she would find a way to get it. Some time passed and finally, the photo arrived, and now Lola's look will be living in the same house where I grew up. The project was also influenced by ideas from philosopher Paul B. Preciado's book “Pharmaco-pornographic Politics: ... I thought the acting seemed poor also when I was watching the dubbed version, but then halfway through the first episode I switched over to German language with subtitles and the acting seemed much more naturalistic then. I don’t think the actors who dubbed the English language version quite nailed it. The prosthetics for the slave hunters is very unique and realistic. They really look like they’re made of stone. Yet they still move naturally. Good special effects. This is a great series with very interesting characters. It would be great if there would be a second a season. We periodically invite our alumni, artists we have featured in the past, to share their new work and projects with us. Anna Thiele’s photograph Real World won the Julia Margaret Cameron Award for Women Photographers 2023 in the Professional Section/Single Images. Her work was featured in two of our past Guest Rooms: “The Meanwhile”, curated by David Campany & Taous Dahmani and “Wild Loneliness”, ... For this occasion, photographers are invited to investigate around the theme " Past & Present", focusing on how image-making has changed its features and challenges in these past 15 years. MAY 4 is the last day for applying to the Open Call.
