About this deal

What's the difference between the PS4 Slim and the PS4 Pro? The PS4 Slim is essentially a slimmer, cheaper and better-looking version of the original PS4. In contrast, the PS4 Pro is more premium and can play games in 4K Power: the Pro edition has innovations that simply make it more powerful. In other words, it is faster and has a smoother refresh rate.

Great experiences that stay with you on PS4™ and PS5™

So what's different about the PS4 Slim? For the most part, just the plastic body. It's rounded now instead of pointy at the ends and it's surprisingly thin. In fact, I wouldn't stand it vertically without the optional stand Sony sells. I also like the tactile power and eject buttons on the front left side. Sony had replaced the overly sensitive touch ones in later runs of the original PS4, but these are even better.

The Slim doesn’t make a ton of improvements over the original PS4. If you already own a perfectly functional PS4, it doesn’t make much sense to get the Slim. Furthermore, if you want a more powerful PlayStation, the PlayStation 4 Pro is what you want. PS4/PS4 Slim vs PS4 Pro All in all, the PS4 Slim is a good budget buy, while the PS4 Pro is a wise choice for gamers with 4K televisions who want the very best experience available. That is, if you want a PlayStation right now. Waiting for the PS5 might be a good idea if you want to make more of an investment, albeit a more expensive one, in long-term gaming enjoyment. The only major casualty of the slimmed-down design is the Optical Out port on the rear: HDMI will suit the needs of many gamers for carrying audio signals, but the Optical Out port will be missed by those hooking up older home cinema receivers, or souped-up gaming headsets. Setting up the slim PlayStation 4 is very easy – especially if you're upgrading from the original PS4 (or even a PS3), because you can use all the same cables, so no need to stretch behind your TV.You don't have permission to access "http://www.gamestop.com/consoles-hardware/playstation-4/products/sony-playstation-4-slim-console/10147719.html" on this server. Bonus: if energy consumption is important for you, the PS4 Pro is the most power-hungry in the series.

Sony has been shying away from touch-sensitive controls with its new console iterations, just like Microsoft has between the Xbox One and Xbox One S . Instead of touch-based power and eject buttons like on the original PS4, the PS4 Slim has two simple, mechanical buttons placed on the left edge of the front panel's protruding lip, under the slot-loading optical drive. Two USB ports sit to the right of the slot, though now they're nearly three inches apart instead of right next to each other. Very well designed slim and compact, the power button and disc button is perfect. The color and overall small details are cosmetically great. If you havnt seen the bottom side its surprisingly detailed. I love it, it blends in and doesn't stand out too much. I'm good to buy a Ps4 Pro if it actually gives me improved graphic details and more fps in 1080p. A 4Tflop pc graphics card delivers 100+fps. It almost seems like the Pro is just for 4k resolution and depending on where you sit or the quality of the 4k tv. It just may have a lot of folks spinning their wheels. The PS4 Slim is a deja vu game console: great for gamers on a budget, not quite as good as the PS4 Pro and skippable for any existing PlayStation 4 owner. If you already have a PS4, you can ignore this model. It's basically the exact same hardware, just in a smaller case. The PS4 Slim has plenty of nice design touches dotted around its chassis though. The iconic Square, Triangle, Circle and Cross symbols of the PlayStation brand are stamped into the side of the console (with the Circle acting as a fixture for those wishing to stand the console upright with a base accessory). If you don't have a 4K TV and you're a first-time PS4 shopper on a budget, the PS4 Slim may well be a great option for you.

I bought a PS4 with some saved money and Christmas money for the main purpose of playing RDR2. I didn't really have much interest in the games that came along with this, but it was cheaper as a bundle than just buying the standalone console. Turns out, I liked GoW and H:ZD quite a lot. Haven't touched the other game though. The slim PS4 loses its optical audio port, which will be a bummer for third-party headphone users. The somewhat pricier PS4 Pro delivers a larger hard drive and the promise of better graphics. Overall the slim is my favorite with minor issues of my own fault and of possibly Sony not the slim. If you're itching for 4K and HDR gaming, the PS4 Pro is likely for you. Other choices: PS4 Pro, Xbox One SWinner of over 200 game of the Year awards, the last of US has been rebuilt for the PlayStation4 system. Now featuring higher resolution character models, improved shadows and lighting, in addition to several other gameplay improvements. It will not run games in 4k, it can stream video but not games. Thus comes the HDR, "it's almost 4k". Pre-owned Certified: Electronics products are inspected, cleaned and (if applicable) repaired to excellent functional standards.
