Utichi, Joe (September 22, 2020). "Millie Bobby Brown & Harry Bradbeer On Crafting A Modern Superheroine In The Victorian-Era 'Enola Holmes' – Q&A". Deadline Hollywood. Archived from the original on 2020-09-30 . Retrieved October 10, 2020. Speaking of, I don't know if these are considered MG or YA, but I think they would work for either group. The length is just right for younger middle-grade readers.

The story development is quite abrupt at times. For instance, when Enola first leaves her house, it is only to find her mother. Why then would she abandon that search midway and go looking for another missing boy instead? It seemed silly. One of the first interesting things about this book is its title. Now most of us are naturally right-handed, but there are many people who are naturally left handed. You may know someone who prefers using their left hand. In fact, there are many celebrities who are left-handed and it is quite an accepted phenomena these days. But it was not so even a few decades ago. As right hand is considered the ‘good’ hand, the hand preferred during religious ceremonies and so on, a lot of left-handed children also were punished and it was common practice to try and get them to change to be right handed. This book highlights that this custom must have been common around the world, as the author shows us through Enola’s thoughts what a typical left-handed child would go through when growing up in England of late nineteenth century:

The plot is exciting. Enola is smart enough to be a fun heroine, yet fallible enough that young readers can identify with her. As a self-emancipated fourteen year old, she's living a life of adventure that's likely to appeal to tweens and teens as well. The book includes some serious topics within its content, such as women’s suffrage, societal compulsions about ‘proper’ women’s behaviour and appearance, poverty, class discrimination, and so on. The second book in the series, starring Enola Holmes, is also a light & clever read for anyone who loves mysteries. It is aimed mainly at teenagers, but it is a very nice break for adults as well. I look forward to translating Enola's next adventures, since I really liked her first two books.. I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers. The author does tell us a little bit more about Lady Eudoria Holmes‘ character here with snippets here and there commenting on her love for freedom and suffragette movements as well women’s rights. But these ideas were still mostly ideas and reality was very different. We see how children in this world could work but had no real rights: Enola’s life by no means is a picnic. She faces a lot of dangers on her own continuously and it is difficult not to admire her courage or forgive her for an ocassional lapse where she craves genuine friendship with someone. The most unusual and yet the most common thing that she yearns for still remains her independence though: Las ilustraciones mantienen el estilo de las del primer libro y siguen siendo una auténtica belleza. Wadley, Laura (2006). [ permanent dead link]I enjoyed this little adventure and you will too if you are looking for a sparkling girl trying to find a life for herself while doing her best to help others. ThinkerViews Rating: Oh my goooooooooood….. finally got my hands on the graphic novels….. and they are a great gift to my broken heart after the disappointment of the movie… Enola’s inquiring mind and indomitable spirit made me want to spend more time with her. I look forward to hanging out with Enola as she continues to subvert her allotted position in nineteenth century London in future graphic novel adaptations. A delightful collection of three short stories featuring the iconic Enola Holmes! The mysteries themselves were just okay and not particularly mind-blowing, though I did like the last one more. The occasionally abrupt story flow is saved by the spunky, show-stealing heroine. I loved her many disguises and costumes. There were also some fun ciphers and I enjoyed learning about language of flowers. The artwork was magical and vibrant, which made the Victorian London setting feel so real. I like Enola Holmes mysteries and this graphic novel was just the thing for me. It is pretty accurately based on the first three books and is in no way been affected by the movie which is different from the original story, although it’s not in any way a bad thing, as it was in fact quite a good movie! 😊 A talented artist who has unfortunately turned her energies to the cause of women’s so-called rights.” The mystery in this one is Enola trying to find a missing young lady who may or may not have run away with an unsuitable lover. So we finally meet John Watson. Bring out the party hats, y'all, it's my favourite character!!!! Except now he's sexist. Yep. For some reason, Nancy Springer has completely overlooked all the times canon Watson has called Holmes' opinions on women out. I guess all men in this version of history are sexists (no really, there isn't an unsexist man to be found in this book) Una continuación que resulta tan entretenida como El caso del marqués desaparecido, el primer libro de la saga. IDW: Enola Holmes: The Case of the Missing Marquess". Archived from the original on 2020-10-21 .
