Review: The Good Lie (A.R. Torre) – A Novel Glimpse Review: The Good Lie (A.R. Torre) – A Novel Glimpse

The characters were complex and multi-layered, and I did like both Gwen and Robert. They were both flawed, and made questionable judgements, but I felt for them, and rooted for them both. Psychiatrist Dr. Gwen Moore and defense attorney, Robert Gavin work together to find the real BH Killer. These two have some palpable chemistry that could become a distraction. This case hits close to home for both of them. The Good Lie by A. R. Torre is a novel that is notoriously psychological and sinister in a way that will keep you wide awake at night. Published on 20 July 2021, it is a book that will exceed your expectations. It will make you aware of every sinister thought running inside your head. The main character The incident with Luke and the stolen keys didn’t add much to the story because we find out from Rob anyways that Randall’s MO was young girls. And the lost keys only led to Gwen running to Rob. I understand the need to throw red herrings and distractions but this didn’t really add anything to the story overall. When Attorney Robert Kavin meets Dr. Gwen Moore in a bar, they hit it off and they end up leaving together. In February 2015, the Foundation for Lost Boys and Girls of Sudan, Inc., acting on behalf of 54 Sudanese refugees, filed a lawsuit in Georgia against writer Margaret Nagle, Alcon Entertainment and Imagine Entertainment. The suit claimed that the refugees were joint authors of the stories they had told Nagle in interviews that she had recorded and used to write the story. It also asserted that a joint venture agreement had been breached, with fraud and other issues arising from a promise of compensation from a producer. It’s so rare that we get a clever story with unexpected revelations that don’t feel completely out of place once you get to them. When you hear me say I’m in a mood for a good thriller, usually something like this is what I have in mind.

Gwen was mostly relatable, with a couple of moments that made me thing – oh-oh. Well, that wasn’t very nice. Multiple POVs played their role very well, building up the tension and then leaving the readers with more questions than answers by the end of every chapter. Robert was another gem of this story. A grieving father who recently lost his son in an inexplicably cruel way – to the BH Killer. Hurt and at the edge, but also smart, charming, successful and irresistible. Who could say no to him?I cannot tell you how excited I was when I received an ARC for A.R. (Alessandra) Torre’s latest thriller. I became a HUGE fan of her writing in 2020, having read 5 of her books. She’s still got it in 2021! The notorious Bloody Heart serial killer has already killed six of the finest California’s teenage boys, but the seventh escaped. He identified high school teacher Randall Thompson as his captor. Thompson is arrested and everyone, including Gwen, already sees the case as closed. A pretty woman. Kind eyes. A friendly smile. She had greeted me warmly, with no idea of the dozens of conversations I’d had with her husband about why killing her was a bad idea. Cunningham, Todd (January 15, 2014). Riddled with guilt, Dr. Moore is oblivious to the new development in the bloody heart killer case. The BHS killer, having killed six teen boys, all wealthy, had kidnapped his seventh victim only for the victim to have escaped the killer a few weeks after. Scott Harden, who was held captive by the BHS killer, has escaped. And now, he is recognizing Randall Thompson, a science teacher in Beverly Hills, as the killer. After all, BH is the most notorious serial killer in LA who’s been keeping the citizens at the edge of their nerves for quite some time. To get a detailed record on him and his victims – the professional interest is just irresistible. And Gwen got the opportunity of a lifetime! The Good Lie is a 2014 American drama film written by Margaret Nagle and directed by Philippe Falardeau. The film stars Reese Witherspoon in the lead role, Arnold Oceng, Ger Duany, Emmanuel Jal, and Corey Stoll. Torre will be a go-to author for me after loving this and Every Last Secret. She writes characters you may not always like, but you feel invested in nonetheless. As an aside, I adore Gwen’s fellow psychiatrist, Meredith. She’s a bottle of saucy fun! The strength of this book is the characters, and the mind games that each of them are playing. If you like action - this isn’t that book, but if you like to get inside characters’ heads for a bit - try this one. I think you’ll like it!There is a psycho killer out there. Killed 6 teenage boys leaving them tattooed with a heart on their chests. The 7th managed to escape. We have a psychologist profiling the killer trying to hide her own errors in judgement? A lawyer, whose own son was murdered, defending the accused? And the kid who escaped, well he’s loving the limelight but his mom can recognize the telltale signs that he is keeping a secret. A.R. Torre is a pseudonym of Alessandra Torre and is her dark alter ego. While Alessandra writes spicy romances, A.R. focuses on twisted stories filled with secrets, suspense, drama, and danger. I loved how you reviewed this! Such a clever way to frame it to avoid possible spoilers and still tells us what to expect from the book. I hope to try this one some day. I just started Every Last Secret today.

As we all know, thrillers are notorious for having unlikeable characters. And they are also notorious for manipulating the narrative to generate. The same happened with this book. We all know that these people tip more towards the bad side, yet we vouch for them. And we silently pray for the truth to not come out. Why on earth did Rob treat Gwen so well given his intentions to kill her? For example he gave her a ring that meant a lot to him. Did anyone else raise an eyebrow when Rob gave Gwen the ring, slept with her and then questioned her about John? I read 20% of this book the first night and then finished it the next day. This story grabbed me and wouldn't let go. I managed to figure out some things but I was so wrong on a lot of them. It's a clever story with smart characters who don't always get it right.Ever since I was first introduced to A.R. Torre, I've been hooked on her writing, and this was another fascinating premise and fast-paced ride! I loved the aspects of tortured and dangerous will-they-won't-they love she included as part of the plot and the narrative certainly pointed every which way toward the potential BH Killer! I changed my mind several times while reading, and the twists were unexpected to say the least! One in particular towards the end caught me completely off guard and while it proved to be a bit of a fake out, got my blood pumping! Book Genre: Adult, Contemporary, Crime, Fiction, Mystery, Mystery Thriller, Psychological Thriller, Suspense, Thriller i rarely give 5 stars to mystery/thrillers because it takes so much to impress me with this genre, but it honestly doesnt get any better than this book.
