I seriously kept kind of picturing a preteen girl lying on her bed writing out her "dream boyfriend" list; he's an artist! he has curly hair! his eyes are "deep"! he's super hawwtt! all the things she thinks of when she imagines her perfect, amazing life when she grows up that have no foundation in reality because she has no idea what actually goes into doing things like getting a job or having a relationship. Me Before You meets One Day in this passionate debut novel, The Light We Lost, an epic love story about the heartrending decision that one woman must make... He loved and was loved. Two roads diverged in a wood, and I – I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference” – Robert Frost The perfect beach read: an engrossing, romantic, and surprisingly sexy story about the power of first love.”— Domino My heart is broken. I am blown away and broken. I don't know how to review this, so I'm going to ramble for a bit.

The writing was simple, gorgeous. The emotions are portrayed so vividly through it. I was captivated from the beginning! Aside from co-starring in the upcoming A Wrinkle in Time big screen adaptation, Reese Witherspoon have a lot in common. Namely, their love of books and mutual respect for one another. In honor of the OG book club queen's birthday, Witherspoon recommended Winfrey's powerful collection of essays, The Wisdom of Sundays, which was inspired by some of the famous talk show host's most meaningful conversations. Thinking of you and remembering all the happiness ______ brought to us. He/she will be missed so muchUnfortunately, Lucy decides to disconnect Gabe from the machines, because it turns out Gabe had stated in a letter that if something were to happen to him, he did not want to stay connected to machines. The novel finalizes with Lucy writing a letter to Gabe and her son, a letter she debates when she will give it to their child, and explains that she has not told Darren yet that her third child is Gabe’s, not his. Lucy explains to her son that she sees it was her and Gabe’s choice for each other that led to this. Arguably, it was Lucy’s major decisions that caused such a sad ending to their lives together.

Consider setting aside some time and prepare to be charmed as author Josie Silver takes readers on a captivating journey — where female friendship is as important as romantic love… One Day in December is an unmistakable winner.” Lucy suspects Darren of cheating. Darren is by no means perfect. He has his problems. But he knows what COMPROMISING actually means. He did some wrong things. But you know what? He still loves you, cares about you. He could've changed. Then they break up because that wasn't actually love and Gabe is a selfish cow. *No offense to the cows* Gabe wants to go to Iraq and take important pictures. Because he wants to change the world. These In Loving Memory Quotes are perfect for remembering a loved one. When we lose someone special to us we never really forget them. Their memory stays with us forever. Filled with light and hope, this is the romance we’re all looking for.”—Brenda Bowen, author of Enchanted AugustThe perfect book to get lost in . . . Josie Silver’s characters sneak their way into your heart and stay.”—Jill Santopolo, author of Before The Light We Lost, you’d written primarily for children and young adults. Why did you decide to write an adult novel? She walks like a ballerina in dance slippers, her feet as articulate as hands, a little vessel of grace moving out into the fog.”

The Light We Lost is a beautiful, moving meditation on the choices we make in pursuit of love and a meaningful life, and the consequences that shape our futures." - Bethany Chase, author of The One That Got Away The Light We Lost is a novel about the inner-workings of the human heart, a heartbreaking ode to the lengths we go to pursue our dreams and the sacrifices we make for love, with a surprising, emotional ending. Unique approach to POV. I felt like I was eavesdropping on the most emotional and heartbreaking one-sided conversation. There are no words for how much I miss you dad. I will remember all our times together with such happinessIn this intense, deeply moving novel, Jill Santopolo vividly illuminates how our personal lives and loves are changed by the common - and uncommon - events of our troubled world." - Nancy Thayer, New York Times bestselling author of The Island House Jill Santopolo received a BA in English literature from Columbia University and an MFA in writing from the Vermont College of Fine Arts. She lives in New York City The memory of ______ will live on long after they’ve gone and be an inspiration for so many. My deepest sympathy for your loss Lucy and Darren continue with their relationship and eventually decide to marry. As fate would have it for Lucy once more, she is given another shot to think about whether or not she truly wants to continue her relationship with Darren. On her wedding day, she receives a phone call from Gabe. He heart-wrenchingly tells her, “Raina’s not a Pegasus [(someone special)]…She met an aid worker. She liked him better. Said he was more available than I was. Am I unavailable Luce?” (176). Lucy responded “I don’t know. It’s been more than a year since we talked to each other. I don’t know you anymore.” Gabe argues that he is the same person while Lucy makes a fair point stating that if he wants to be in a relationship he has to commit to putting the relationship first, and he did not commit even to her. Then, Lucy lays it out to Gabe that she was getting married and Gabe says “What if…” The reader never finds out what that “What if…” would have been since Lucy responds, “I should probably go.” It is an unfortunate response, because she could have tried asking what that “What if” was, and perhaps Gabe and Lucy would have found a way to make it work. Instead, Lucy does not listen anymore, highly likely scared to fall for another blow. Gabe was at a fault on this as well, seeing how he did say one time he would visit her, and then next thing Lucy knows he is off to his job once more. If they would’ve had a more thorough talk, it could have prevented Gabe’s sad demise. Not surprisingly, Lucy states that she thought about Gabe the rest of the morning. Marriage
