Home > Be prepared to welcome the Halloween season this year with the ever so talented Sana Rasoul’s debut novel, The Twig Man, set to be released in October 2022! The Twig Man is perfect for a Halloween read. It's perfect if you like creepy stories. And it's perfect for both children and middle-aged women like me!

BBC One - Stick Man

The maths challenges will work on your child's numerical development, helping them to gain confidence too. As the resources are fun and playful, your child is more likely to retain the information. The Twig Man is a spine-tingling middle-grade story, perfect for Halloween. Yes, it's a middle-grade, but I'm a middle-aged mum of two and still found this story creepy, gripping and oozing in atmosphere. Our collection of Mr Twig resources contain more than just colouring resources. With cutting, counting and leaf collecting activities, as well as writing templates, there's enough here to enhance children's creative thinking, problem-solving and fine motor skills. The Twig Man is the story of a boy, a missing sister and The Twig Man hex. Ari is determined to solve the mystery of his missing sister and he’s confident that The Twig Man has taken her.The Twig Man would have me shaking in fear, he’s half tree half man a monster without no face and has eyes everywhere. Ari’s parents think Lana ran away but Ari knows better: the Twig Man took her. Legend says if you wander too far into the woods, he’ll snatch you with his roots and drag you into his lair. Lana has been missing for a year but Ari hasn’t given up hope. Accompanied by Timmy, a new friend who also believes in the Twig Man, Ari braves the woods to save his sister. With an engagingly strident narrative voice, this is aimed at pre-teen readers who areedging towards more grown-up perspectives, with wonderful details about the family’sKurdish heritage (and a glossary of Kurdish terms) threaded through the haunting tale. The Twig Man, is a creepy monster that' has haunted the woods for one hundred years. No one else will listen to Ari if she tells people what happened to Lana. It all down to her now to find and save her sister. But, she better hurry as she is next on his list!!! The Mr Twig Word Mat will improve your little one's vocabulary. This is because it will expose your child to new words and meanings. This will help your children improve reading and writing abilities, as well as become better communicators.

Stickman Word Mat - Teaching Resources (teacher made) - Twinkl

The story starts when Ari's family reports his sister missing to the police. They tell Ari's parents to just wait, she is a teenager, it is normal for teenagers to be wandering around. His mother thinks that Lana—Ari's sister—leaves because she is angry with her. They've fought about Lana's reluctance for attending University. But, Ari thinks of something else, some other possibility. About the old tale that his Nan told him. A monster in the woods who kidnaps children. The Twig Man. Legend says if you wander too far into the woods, he’ll snatch you with his roots and drag you into his lair.” I also loved the focus on family and friendships. Ari’s determined to find his sister and save her from the Twig Man, you can see how much love he holds for her. While others might be annoyed by their big sisters, Ari thinks she’s amazing and loves spending time with her. Even though his parents don’t understand what’s going on, they are protective of him and their anger comes from a lot of worries. I also liked Ari finding his first friend in Timmy, another boy who’s often roaming the woods! There is only one thing that bothered me as I was reading and that was the dialogue. The interactions between characters seemed churlish and I cringed at some of the things that were said. The way Ari and his family spoke to each other, I found disrespectful and rude and did not seem genuine, to me. This story is just spooky enough to make your skin crawl but not have you hiding behind the sofa. It is creepy, mysterious and slightly scary but it is completely suitable for its intended age group. I enjoyed this spooky story too. It's been a year since nearly-twelve-year-old Ari’s older sister, Lana, ran away. Except Ari knows what really happened. She was taken by the Twig Man, the creepy monster that's haunted the woods for one hundred years. No one else will listen, so it's down to Ari to save his sister. But he had better hurry, as Ari finds himself next on The Twig Man's list...

The Twig Man : The Week Junior Book Awards 2023

I enjoy how Ari until you're the only one to believe in this urban legend of stringing however Nan, is also known about the twig man. Information which the boys can use will this research help them save Lana. I would like to make it explicitly clear that a child does die within this story—having his head forcefully smashed by an adult character, albeit the caricatured version of an adult man. The disappearances of local children also include descriptions of vacant houses, where once their families lived, & which now lay abandoned. Please be aware that though the subject matter does present as appropriate for the target age range in linguistics & thematic approach, the subject matter is incredibly distressing as it links itself wholeheartedly to our non-fictional world.Ari’s sister Lana has been missing for over a year, his parents and police think she ran away but Ari believes the Twig Man in the woods has her. When he starts seeing a dead eyed cat and is suddenly drawn into the woods at Lana’s voice calling him. He meets a boy named Timmy who is looking for the Twig Man too and together plan to find him and stop him for food. A year ago Ali’s sister Lana went missing, the police believe Lana chose to leave. Ari knows his sister would never leave him behind. Ari knows that Lana often went into the woods alone. The school where Ari attends, they all talk about the Twig Man. When I review Middle Grade books, I read them as 10 year old me would have. I feel since that is roughly the target audience range for them. That being said, I can see the potential this story has, but for me, 10 year old me, I would have found some parts of it to be a bit boring. Some things could have been left out. But there were some great and interesting scenes. The parents are definitely the 'wrap your kids up and not let them have much fun' type. (Ok maybe they aren't that bad, but they are quite strict.) It's understandable though. I mean their daughter had been missing for a year.
