Both buttons also offer an easy way to access your smartphone's voice assistant and receive calls hands-free. Follow these steps to firstly pair the headset with each device individually, then connect to both at once! Thankfully, whichever settings or modes you have engaged, you’ll be free of the white noise that affected my experience with the WF-C500 – there were no such distractions during my time with the WF-C700N. Like many Sony wireless earbuds, the WF-C700N offer Sony’s Adaptive Sound Control feature which allows the earbuds to automatically switch listening modes depending on your location.

We’re big fans of the comfort levels provided by WF-C700N. The Sonys slide in and twist into place in the lower portion of your outer ear. They don’t dig in and instead just nestle in place, with the flexible silicone eartips finishing the job and providing an excellent seal. The net result is that they’re easy to live with whether you’re doing a five-kilometre run or five minute walk to the shops. And, dare we say, they’re more comfortable than the more expensive WF-1000XM4. Connect your headphones and computer via Bluetooth®. For how to pair them, refer to the Help Guide of your headphones. It's not a total disaster here for the C500, though, as while they're incapable of any form of ANC, they do at least offer voice control and hands-free calling, and with a high-quality microphone built in, that's still a really handy feature at such a small price.Sony's DSEE, bolstered by the company's very own, custom 5mm drivers, has been designed to deliver "powerful bass and stunningly clear vocals", according to the company itself. On that front, the C700N have lived up to their own hype: bass is hefty and vocals convey emotion and refinement with confidence and ease. A real triumph.

The C700N are rated IPX4 splash-proof like the WF-C500, but also sport Wind Noise Reduction Structure to render calls less distorted in blustery weather, plus Multipoint Bluetooth that allows you to connect wirelessly to two Bluetooth devices at once and then seamlessly switch between them. The operation to register the device that you wish to connect to is called “pairing”. First, pair a device to use it with the headset for the first time.Okay, if you're prepared to spend over three times the money, there's more detail and sonic insight (through the higher frequencies) to be gleaned from the Bowers & Wilkins Pi7 S2, but those earbuds don't have the battery life or ANC talent of these inexpensive Sony earbuds. Both the XM5 earbuds and LinkBuds S support multipoint pairing for simultaneous connections with up to two devices. This could be partly explained by the fact they use Sony’s own 5mm driver in their design – by comparison, the WF-C500 use a 5.8mm driver while the WF-1000XM4 boast a larger 6mm unit. That won't happen here. In fact, with the WF-C700N, Sony just ripped my notions on what is achievable at this level to smithereens. Some of the best noise-cancelling earbudsof the year, then? Indeed. Can they be bettered by rivals? Yes, but not for this money. You'll have to set your sights much farther up the food chain if you want to beat this suite of features and sound quality.
