No matter who you are and no matter where you come from, every single person in the world has the potential to be a champion. In You Are A Champion, the nation’s favourite footballer gives you the tools you need to reach your full potential, showing you how to be the very BEST version of yourself you can be. I don't know how many readers will end up as successful as Marcus Rashford, but if they take on half of what he says, they will make a great start and develop a good attitude to life. The only thing wrong with Rashford is that he plays for Manchester United instead of Liverpool. But hey, you can't have everything in life. Marcus Rashford MBE is famous worldwide for his skills both on and off the pitch – but before he was a Manchester United and England footballer, and long before he started his inspiring campaign to end child food poverty, he was just an ordinary kid from Wythenshawe, South Manchester. Now the nation’s favourite footballer wants to show YOU how to achieve your dreams, in this positive and inspiring guide for life.

The book young people need right now, by a champion they love The book young people need right now, by a champion they love

I am not interested in football but I'd seen Marcus in the news getting his MBE and he seems genuinely to want to do good, and like a great role model for children. So I was keen to read his inspirational book You Are A Champion. I thought this book was really great. Really, really great. I can only imagine what kind of perspective this book would have given me if it were handed to me as a young child. I'm 27, and this book has given me some amazing lessons on confidence and believing in yourself, so I really hope the younger generation read this book, or have it read to them because the advice, lessons, and words inside are so important to growing up both as an individual and as a member of something bigger, whether that be a community, a family, a team etc.And no matter what happens in your life, the most amazing way that you can be a champion is by being your OWN champion. Trust me, when you believe in yourself, incredible things can happen. I know it’s not the same, and I know a part of me will always think about that penalty and the final we never won. But on that day—July 11, 2021—and in the days after, I learned that there can be more than one way of winning. You might not always get a trophy or the medal you wanted, but if you go out there with your head held high and try your best, you’ve already won. Now, you might be wondering why I’ve started a book called You Are a Champion with a story about losing a game for a championship. But I’m telling you this story to show you that there’s more than one way to win. Carl Anka is a London-born journalist and broadcaster who likes his tea with milk and one sugar. He has written for BBC, Guardian, VICE, NME, GQ and BuzzFeed among other publications online and in print and specializes in writing about pop culture, video games, films and football. Currently a reporter for sports media group The Athletic, covering Manchester United, he is the host of the Talk of the Devils podcast and is scared of talking on the phone.

You are a Champion: How Marcus Rashford and Carl Anka are

He is inspirational because he is saying get better at what you want to do and be the best that you can be. Marcus Rashford MBE is famous worldwide for his skills both on and off the soccer field – but before he was a Manchester United and England soccer player, and long before he started his inspiring campaign to end child food poverty, he was just a kid from Wythenshawe, South Manchester. Now the nation's favorite soccer player wants to show YOU how to achieve your dreams, in this positive and inspiring guide for life. I have been struggling a lot with my confidence and this book has really helped me. Marcus speaks about believing in yourself and learning to understand your strengths and embracing them.

About Marcus Rashford, Carl Anka

Thank you to @amberivatt of @macmillankidsuk and of course Marcus & Carl for a #gifted copy of the finished book in exchange for an honest review. There’s more than one way to do things. How to learn, how to problem solve and more. Everyone has different skills and talents and we all go on a journey learning how to use them well. What’s really interesting to Marcus and myself is that a personal journey can take you to places you might not expect, but can be amazing all the same. I once had a dream like Marcus to be a footballer, but as I got older I discovered I liked writing; eventually I found a way to put my two skills together to become a football journalist. There are always options and things to explore, and I think it’s great to explore them wherever possible. This book is about how to achieve your dreams. It also tells you to believe in yourself and the importance of practicing. You need to work hard and be confident! You can be the next champion!

I work as a tutor for a company who provide Day Services to disabled adults of all ages. After reading my eARC, I have already added this book to my reading group list, because I have some students in mind who would love to hear these words of encouragement and inspiration from a man like Marcus Rashford. I went up to take my penalty with nearly 60,000 England fans cheering me on. The Italian goalkeeper, a man called Gianluigi Donnarumma, is one of the biggest goalkeepers in the world of soccer, standing six feet, four inches tall. At my level of soccer, the goal is eight feet tall and eight yards wide, so I want you to imagine this BIG man filling up most of the space in this BIG goal, making it hard to score.

The book has really helped Nico understand that no one knows exactly what they want to be at his age but working hard helps you to figure out who you want to be and where you want to go. The writing is pitched at the perfect level for 9-11 year olds and I read this with my 8 and a half year old Nico who found it easy to follow and has boosted his confidence not only in his reading but also in himself and his own abilities. You Are a Champion: How to Be the Best You Can Be You Are a Champion: How to Be the Best You Can Be

You can be a champion for another person, and try your best to support them in what they do. I hope you’ll learn that there are people around you who are championing you right now, and that you can even be a champion for the people who are close to you, too.It was the first time we had made it to the final of an international tournament since the World Cup in 1966. Soccer fans had waited fifty-five years for this moment, and to make things even better, the final was being held in Wembley Stadium in London. Just like in 1966, England was playing in a final at home. Everyone across the country was really excited. This book shows the mentality and attitude behind how Marcus has been able to achieve all that he has, in the very short time he has. You can be a champion in a competition and come out number one, but you can also still be a champion in the things you enjoy even if you don’t win prizes for them. I want to help you develop skills for the challenges ahead so you can be a champion at life. Marcus Rashford MBE is Manchester United's iconic number 10 and an England International footballer. In October 2020 he was appointed MBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours. Marcus Rashford is famous worldwide for his skills both on and off the pitch – but before he was a Manchester United and England footballer, and long before he started his inspiring campaign to end child food poverty, he was just an average kid from Wythenshawe, South Manchester.
