Gaggia Carezza Deluxe has 2 “perfect cream” filters respectively dedicated to the use of ground coffee for 1 or 2 cups and for the use of single-portion pods. The Pannarello steam wand is used to prepare the milk froth. the steam spout emits steam or hot water and is activated by means of the buttons on the front by turning the dial towards the type of function required.

What this means is that although you can use it with a standard basket, the overpressure valve is set to about 14 bars of pressure, instead of the more desired 9 bars. To use preground coffee, make sure the pod adapter is removed and place the double shot filter basket in the portafilter. Fill to the rim with pre-ground espresso coffee and level off. This is the only other cheap espresso machine I've seen with a thermometer, and I was actually pleasantly surprised with this machine too, both where espresso and milk steaming were concerned. As I’ve mentioned a couple of times already, this machine is not entirely free from a learning curve, but making coffee with the Gaggia Carezza is far from a complicated endeavour. The water reservoir slides out from the front of the machine and has a clear window for monitoring level. The reservoir accepts the Mavea Intenza plus water filter which removes chlorine and softens hard water to improve flavor and prevent scale build up. A large drip tray slides out from the front for easy emptying. Conclusion This might confuse some people, as I said I was going to compare with cheaper options, and the Smeg ECF01 is slightly more expensive than the Gaggia Carezza, but it's actually almost identical internally to the DeLonghi Dedica.

These machines are made for people who're going to make their morning coffee and then scoot off to work or whatever. If you're going to make one or two coffees each morning, then the auto off is a good thing, it doesn't matter if you run off in a rush and leave it on, your bank account will thank you for that, as will Mother Earth.
