Description

This size of unit is especially useful in smaller homes and flats because of its size and Quiet Mark award-winning operation. Wherever you use it, you’ll find it won’t disturb work, play or sleep. Normally, you wouldn’t do this – the ideal humidity is usually 40% to 60% and within a few degrees of 50% is fine. However, if you’re trying to deal with mildew, mould or damp patches, then you’ll want to keep it a little lower. In fact, we struggle to find any dehumidifier that’s quieter than the ABC. For comparison, the excellent Meaco DD8L Zambezi, which is a desiccant model, has a maximum noise output of 50dB. The closest refrigerant model is the Electriq CD20LE which has a maximum noise output of 42dB. There are six indicator lights. These are for laundry mode, fan speed, timer function, power and emptying indication. The five buttons below the lights allow you to cycle through the various settings. This cycling through settings might seem outdated, but it’s a functional system and a more complex control panel wouldn’t add much to the machine (other than price). While the MeacoDry ABC doesn’t include many advanced features, such as Smart functionality or a HEPA filter, it has everything you would expect from a Meaco refrigerant model at a mid-range price. Meaco also claims it’s their quietest dehumidifier yet.

That's not all the MeacoDry ABC 12L Dehumidifier can do though: it's got a Laundry mode which, when pressed, ups the extraction rate ante, in turn significantly helping to remove moisture from drying clothes. No, you won't get that fresh and soft outdoorsy feel from such a drying technique - but when it's raining outside and you've got sheets to dry it's an absolute life-saver, and less expensive than hammering out a heat-based dryer too. Our Extended3 Year Warranty from Buy It Direct gives you the reassurance that if an electrical or mechanical fault arises you won't be exposed to costly repair bills. Our dedicated technical team will take care of your dehumidifier.

You work at BID, what a legend.

The 12L maximum extraction capacity means it’s not suitable for large homes though. For that, you’ll need a model like the Meaco Low Energy 20L ( read our full review here). Quietness We should point out that I took these sound readings using a smartphone app inside a home with wooden floors, and that sound levels will vary depending on your carpet, curtains and furnishings. Meaco’s own noise measurements, taken in a sealed chamber using calibrated microphones at 1m from all four sides, measured noise levels at between 38dB and 40dB for the 20L model and 40 and 42dB for the 25L model. What’s more, the new model comes in a 25L variant for larger households, which isn’t an option with the ABC range. This makes it the most powerful unit in Meaco’s current range and significantly quieter than the outgoing Meaco 25L model, which could dish out up to 50dB(A). The maximum power usage is 222W in warm and humid conditions. In a more realistic home environment, with a temperature of 20 degrees Celsius and relative humidity of 60%, this drops to just 162W. This is on par with other Meaco Low Energy dehumidifiers, such as the 12L model we’ve previously reviewed.

Automatic defrost - increases water extraction whilst saving energy when used in lower temperatures What do you do if you already produce some of the quietest and most energy-efficiency dehumidifiers on the market? With Meaco’s new MeacoDry Arete One, the answer is to go even lower with power consumption and even quieter – and with some higher capacity options, too. The MeacoDry ABC 12L Dehumidifier is a super way to extract potentially damaging moisture from the air in your home. It's also a great way to assist with drying washing indoors over the winter period when there's no sun available or it's just raining.

A great, hassle-free dehumidifier that puts the squeeze on noise and power consumption

If you’re looking for a portable model, it’s worth looking at desiccant dehumidifiers– particularly if you need a machine that work efficiently in colder temperatures. Desiccant models are often around 7kg. Like most Meaco dehumidifiers, the ABC is designed to be straightforward to use. The digital control panel has lights to indicate which features are currently selected, along with a display showing the room’s relative humidity. If you’re in a hurry to get started, just hitting the “ON” button automatically starts the machine, although we recommend taking the time to understand the various features before you use it. There is nothing worse than your dehumidifier breaking down just after the Manufacturer's warranty has expired. Here at Buy It Direct Ltd we want you to get the most out of your dehumidifier, which is why we offer a3 Year Warranty plan. Because we understand that you don’t want a huge, complicated and inflexible dehumidifier in your home, we’ve designed the MeacoDry ‘ABC’ range to fit right in with your lifestyle. The unit is easy to use, and you can set your target humidity in steps of 5%, giving you complete control. What’s more, we’ve added these great features:• Laundry mode – when you’re drying laundry indoors, your relative humidity will rise. On this setting, your dehumidifier will run at full speed for 6 hours to help dry your clothes and then automatically switch off to save energy.
