Ngayon na pinatawad na kita sana patawarin mo na rin yung sarili mo. Tsaka sana magkaroon ka ng confidence na pinatawad ka na ng Diyos.” Radical love requires responding to wrongs with positive ministry toward the wrongdoer, not with retaliation (6:27-30).

Radical Love: Teachings from the Islamic Mystical Tradition Radical Love: Teachings from the Islamic Mystical Tradition

i have been dealing with my own mental illness for almost a decade. i didn’t anticipate the breakthroughs i would have. Jesus sums up His directives in this verse. When He says that “you will be sons of the Most High,” he does not mean that you become a child of God by your loving deeds, but rather that you prove or show it in that way. We bear His likeness, just as our physical children bear a resemblance to us as parents. God shows His kindness to ungrateful and evil people by giving them life, health, food, clothing, and many other blessings. Most of these people never express their gratitude to God. Yet He keeps on giving it to them. When we show God’s radical love by being kind to those who mistreat us, by treating others as we wish to be treated, by giving when there’s nothing in it for us, sometimes those in the world will notice and ask, “Why are you different?” That’s when we tell them about God’s love in Jesus. I never had any idea he was struggling so much in all this time. It's crazy to think how someone who could bring so much joy on TV and interviews etc could be going through such dark times. It goes to show you can't really know what anyone is going through, and we need to always remember to be kind and empathetic to everyone, and as Zac explains in this book, to ourselves. The portraits are about exploding outmoded ideas of biologically inscribed identity, refuting stereotyped representations of phenotypical characteristics, and using a scientific and data-driven process to show how many different readings there are of the same data. After communicating via mail, Manning sent Dewey-Hagborg hair clippings and two swabs which she placed in a plastic fruit punch bag from the Joint Regional Correctional Facility at Fort Leavenworth. Together, they decided to create two portraits: one to reflect Manning’s female gender, and one gender neutral image intended to demonstrate the reductionism of forensic recognition. Their collaboration materialised as a form of activism, and Dewey-Hagborg was delighted to generate visibility for Manning while subverting algorithmic systems of facial recognition and portraiture. What emerged were two portraits collectively titled Radical Love (2015). They function as a homage to Manning, while also dismantling genetic data as absolute, restating that it is our liberty and right to represent ourselves how we see fit. Probably Chelsea, a series of 30 different portraits of Manning created from DNA analysis in 2017 and exhibited at Fridman Gallery, New York, is an extension of Radical Love. I'm not an expert, therapist, pastor, teacher, or monk. I am merely a person going through my own mental and emotional health journey, hoping that I can pass on some of the wisdom and tools that I'd been blessed enough to learn along the way. And I truly believe that if we can help heal the hearts and minds of everyone on earth, we will solve every other problem known to man in the process. -- Zachary Levi

The Key to Radical Love | Desiring God

Her pathway to forgiveness through giving talks made her discover that it was restorative justice she was doing – the restoration of her healing as a victim and the reformation of the offender. It is so easy to dismiss the book as "oh, poor, little (but really super tall), white, male celebrity. Had a tough childhood and tough time making it in Hollywood." But when you get past the celebrity factor and see you are reading about a real person, struggling with what so many of us (especially us perfectionists) struggle with, the book become relatable with some snippets of sound advice.

Nevertheless, when the actress’s faith went through a tough test following the incident, it was by that line from the Lord’s Prayer she found the glimmer of light.

Radical Love: A Message for Our Time | Psychology Today

How were the portraits received? Do you think you raised the questions that you wanted it to, about gender and the prison-industrial complex? The new piece with the 30 portraits is just beginning to travel, so let’s see what kind of impact it has. It’s a little too early to say since we’ve only shown it once for the opening in New York. Now it’ll go to Berlin, and Frankfurt, and all over the place after that. So let’s see what kind of impact that has. I think this book is a benefit to anyone who is either a fan of Zac's or thinks they are alone in their Mental Health struggle.

My only issue was that the ending felt quite rushed - I would’ve liked a bit more insight into the trial and its aftermath.

Radical Love by Neil Blackmore | Waterstones

This is a great historic fiction (based in fact) about the gay community in the early 1800s, the cruelty and persecution they faced. The documentary featured several perspectives. While members of Pie’s family respect her act of forgiveness, it isn’t a sentiment that most of them support. Her brother, Erwin Herrera, couldn’t do the same but still supported Pie. In a shared conversation with Pie, he would tell her, “It was you, not me. You have this advocacy, belief, and inner sanctuary, but I’m not.” The assailant told the story of his journey of realizing his sin and accepting that he had once done an evil act. It included his cognizance of facing the consequences of it. At first, it didn’t help him, perhaps hardened further by the cruelty and ruthlessness of his deeds seemed like he wasn’t eager to seek forgiveness. The command to love our enemy is a command to find our hope and our deepest soul-satisfaction in God and his great reward — his future grace. The key to radical love is faith in future grace. We must be persuaded in the midst of our agony that the love of God is “better than life” (Psalm 63:3). Loving your enemy doesn’t earn you the reward of heaven. Treasuring the reward of heaven empowers you to love your enemy. With the early portraits I made, I wanted to show the reductionism around gender and sex in particular. After the first portraits commissioned by Paper Magazine in 2015, the prints were exhibited at the World Economic Forum in 2016, after which Chelsea and I stayed in touch, and worked together on a short graphic short story called ‘Suppressed Images 2016’ that we published as part of her clemency campaign. In the comic we forecast the idea of Obama commuting her sentence, and Chelsea being freed and being able to come and see an exhibition of portraits of herself for the first time. We published the comic on the morning of 17 January, and then that afternoon Obama commuted her sentence. It was an unbelievable and emotional experience.
