About this deal

And then there’s the real party piece of recent Sennheiser designs. ‘Fluency’ is a subjective term; it can’t be measured and even the definition is a slightly shaky one. Even with this allowance made, I would be amazed if you didn’t listen to the IE 600 piledriver its way through Show Me How To Love by Audioslave and not be absolutely grabbed by just how together it is. The durable idea that crossovers are inaudible until the moment you take them out of the equation feels very applicable here because there’s so little between you and what you’ve chosen to listen to. You do get the sense of the IE 600 sounding even fuller, yet less extended in sound stage and notes in SE mode. The second main impact is on the bass, which in single ended mode isn’t as present but it is tighter. It however also is technically less strong.

They’re every bit as eloquent when dealing with the big gestures as they are the fine details – and they allow it all to take place on a large, properly defined and thoroughly organised soundstage. Even when the going gets complex or hectic, locating specific elements of a recording is no trouble whatsoever. Also, you need to rotate them just so on the MMCX connection. The cable has a stiff memory hook around the ear, and it can fight with you, trying to pull them out. That cable! Choose between para-aramid reinforced unbalanced and balanced cables: 3.5 mm and 4.4 mm are included, 2.5 mm are sold separately. Two different styles of earbud tips — silicone and memory foam — are provided in three sizes to establish a comfortable seal in any ear. Flexible, adjustable ear hooks further enhance the long-lasting comfort.

What’s it like to use the Sennheiser IE 600?

The first difference with balanced is that you in single ended configuration get a more intimate presentation, with less space between the notes and an overall less airy presentation. This is especially noticeable in the mid section. Third, the top end section is even softer on the ears, with less extension and to me a lower technical level. Treble in SE mode for me is a bit simple and not present enough. Beth Orton's voice hovers unforced above the piano and percussion of "Haunted Satellite." Billie Eilish's "Bad Guy" really skulks along in the bass, yet without any intrusion on her breathy voice ("duh!"), and the IE600 also beautifully details how staggered all the overdubbed fingersnaps are. It's even possible to decipher Thom Yorke's rant in the Smile's "You Will Never Work in Television Again." Twenty years ago it was normal to expect a single set of earphones to do everything, because our expectations of what they could do were substantially lower. Now manufacturers produce models with wildly different flavours, abandoning the precept that a single IEM must be equally at home in the concert hall or mosh pit as it is on the dancefloor.

I would say the IE 600 has just a bit more body, impact and presence as a fully neutral tuned IEM. The IE 600 is not overly full and heavy, and everything is perfectly in control to keep things with their boundaries. It has just enough impact and push to keep things lively and exciting, yet controlled and precise. The IE series introduced this design with the IE 300, and it has continued on the 900 and 600. Some will not love this style of housing as it is very small and narrow, much like you would see from a Westone IEM. I have never had an issue with the IE series style of build, so the 600 and 900 are good in my book when it comes to comfort. You might think that the more expensive IE 900 is made from a higher-grade material than the 600 but the 600 is actually comprised of amorphous metal, while the 900 uses anodized aluminum. Both earphones are built with strong materials, but it is surprising to see them so matched up considering the price difference. Design After using the IE600 alongside the likes of the Fiio FA7S, Audeze Euclid, and a variety of budget planar options, I can say that they're among the best-sounding IEMs I've used to date. Sennheiser did a magnificent job with the 7mm driver, and the balance and tonality makes the IE600 well-suited to a lot of diverse genres. If you’ve made it till here in this article, you’ll know a lot of references have already been made to the IE 300 and IE 900, but let’s recap it here: The foam tips will provide a superior level of isolation between the two options but if you don’t shove the silicone tips in too deep they are also very competitive.for a single DD the technical is mind blowing, a lot of details and very high in resolution, solid note definition, also good 3D presentation, maybe the only downside, it doesn't sound as separated or as wide as some multi driver competitors For reference, the IE 300 also uses a 7mm XWB dynamic driver which is another variation of the TrueResponse driver using a different blend of materials.

I haven’t mentioned it during the review as I always share my opinions without EQ, yet, I find that with a little bit of EQ, these IEMs go from being very good, to almost excellent. I found that dropping th
