This engaging story of how the sports shoe went from functional to fashionable reveals how so many of us came to long for the latest in footwear. Beautifully chronicling over 100 years of the sports shoe, this is the most intricately detailed love letter to the sneaker ever written. The Back in the Day theme revealed the nostalgic nature of the sneakers for participants, and how this nostalgia evoked a desire to attain certain sneaker collections. The lasts were made in different sizes, but for a long time only two widths were available—thin and stout. This material possession then solidifies their place in the community, while allowing them to capture the essence of the sneaker culture of the past. Although there may exist differences in perception of Sneakerhead culture based on age, across the spectrum, Sneakerheads agreed that membership is exclusive and built upon a shared enthusiasm, often developed early in life.This may also help to appeal to the younger Sneakerheads by including the historical context of the shoe. The team includes Donald Crease, a former CIA officer and family man; Darren "Mother" Roskow, a conspiracy theorist and electronics technician; Carl Arbogast, a young hacking genius; and Irwin "Whistler" Emery, a blind phone phreak. The definition of “tap,” according to The Cambridge Dictionary, is “to hit something gently, and often repeatedly, especially making short, sharp noises.
