New York Times bestselling author Jeffrey Archer introduces William Warwick with the words: “This is not a detective story, this is a story about a detective. As I’ve stated before, I was afraid that William Warwick couldn’t live up to the expectations of the Clifton Chronicles.

This new series, which is actually the collection of writing referenced repeatedly throughout the Clifton Chronicles, may be set in the 1980s, but can easily hold the attention of the dedicated thriller fan. Rashidi leads a public life as the MD of the Tea company, while in private he runs a production center of Cocaine. I enjoyed the characters of this book and I could see myself reading more about DCI Warwick and his darling wife.We are still treated to updates on William’s personal life and it was lovely to see his relationship with Beth grow and to follow them on the next steps in their lives. Although the main focus of the story is William Warwick himself, Archer does a good job at juggling his other main characters, namely the fellow members of the Major Drug Squad. Subscribe The premise is, of course, very fantastic, with the squad focusing on the investigation of a drug lord while also tackling some unfinished business from the Art and Antiquities Squad. With a lot of hard police work, finally the details are visible and the operation to net Rashidi and shut down his operation gets underway.

William Warwick is quickly becoming one of the most famous fictional detectives in the world of literature.

With Jeffrey Archer’s trademark twists and turns Hidden in Plain Sight is the extraordinary sequel to Nothing Ventured, the first novel featuring William Warwick. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average.

Well-known criminal mastermind, Malcolm Faulkner, makes his presence known and tries to destroy any credibility Warwick might have, though the power of love appears to prevail. Although the story continues from Book One, there is enough detail to read this as a stand-alone but I really enjoyed learning more about the original cast and many new ones too.I enjoyed the courtroom sequences when the prosecutors and defence did their best to outsmart one other, and I have to say that the court scenes were probably my favourite part of the novel. Jeffrey Archer is an amazing storyteller and is currently in my “top” authors - this means, authors I wanna read everything! We may never get a better chance to put Faulkner behind bars, and don’t let’s forget, however minor the offence, because of the judge’s suspended sentence, it would put him inside for at least four years.

It was lovely to see them working together and the pride he had for both of his kids; even though he didn’t initially approve of William’s career choice. The second book in the William Warwick series continues on his career progression up the ranks of the London Metropolitan Police. Cliffhangers throughout and some great subplot development that makes wishing for the next book all but essential. Working through the handful of confidential informants (CIs) at their disposal, Warwick and the team learn that there is a weekly meeting that could garner a great deal of potent arrests, though the location of the Viper remains a well-guarded secret.

He looked as if he’d stepped straight off the set of a popular television police drama, rather than just arrived from the Regional Crime Squad. Along with the thrill to uncover the mystery and mastery of the Druglord, there are several emotional moments shared between Beth and William, William and his father and Grace and her father which made this book more appealing and applauding. When news comes that Faulkner is about to receive a shipment of drugs that could end him away for the foreseeable future, it's all hands on deck to make the bust.
