First launched in 2011 as a blended Scotch matured in first-fill Sherry casks, The Naked Grouse was billed as a ‘smoother, sweeter’ addition to The Famous Grouse extended family. In 2006, the peated Black Grouse was released, followed two years later by Snow Grouse, a blended grain whisky. His son William took over the business in 1860 and, following the Great Wine Blight of 1875, they started looking into other ways of generating revenue.
