Added to all this, the autofocus is fully compatible with Sony’s Fast Hybrid AF system and excellent AF tracking and Eye AF modes. The lens designation and minimum focus distance are both printed on the barrel and the only other marking of note is the silver circle with the letter C inside it that tells us it’s part of Sigma’s Contemporary range. brownie314 in one of the interviews Sigma stated, that they still heavily rely on EF mount lenses as their biggest seller, followed by E-mount. For other people, who are interested in seeing a comparison between a decade-old leading lens tech by Fuji with a more modern tech by both Fuji and Sigma within a similar focal range, the comparison could be interesting. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this lens for Nikon DX users who want an excellent portrait lens, and I’d probably also say it’s worth full-frame users considering it too if they want something more affordable and lighter than Nikon’s closest equivalent.

maximum aperture prime lenses in its Contemporary (or C) family for smaller format mirrorless cameras. While there are lots of portrait lenses for the Micro Four Thirds system, particularly around the 42. The autofocus isn’t as bad as the 56mm, although a bit loud, but the one thing I do not like at all with that lens is the foreground blur. Digital Camera World is part of Future US Inc, an international media group and leading digital publisher. Nikon treats their aps-c cameras as budget alternatives, and rightly so from a marketing perspective. There is no aperture ring and the focus ring is a fly-by-wire electronic affair, just like Sigma’s other DC DN primes. I was just thinking since Sigma is in the business of mount conversion and has probably the most experience at it - they would be well positioned to make a very good mount converter. with its impressive central sharpness, shallow depth of field and a fast fall-off making it very suitable for portraiture and other subjects where an attractive separation between subject and background is desired. The lens has the same clean black aesthetic that we’ve come to expect from Sigma ever since the company announced its ‘Global Vision’ series, which is the collective name for their Art, Sport and Contemporary lenses.

DC DN Contemporary lens for Fujifilm was first released in 2022 and added to their growing line of X Mount prime lenses, which also includes the 16mm and 30mm.The boss of Sigma stated in an interview that new lenses will be produced when manufacturing capacity is released by declining demand for existing lenses.

And I like to travel light because my camera goes almost everywhere with me, and the Sigma outperformed the Fujifilm 56mm in weight. If I upped the contrast and/or clarity, vibrancy and saturation, it would improve things, but the images from this lens would always stand out as being different, compared to the other photos I took on the same day with other lenses. The images of this lens are too sharp, lower in contrast, with little micro-contrast and low in vibrancy and saturation.I also care about the excellent construction, lens hood availability, internal autofocus, FOV and compression, low light and strong optics, I don't look too deep into bokeh quality, or "micro contrast" etc, maybe I'm just spoiled though.
