Description

There are three floating mountains, with the largest being known as the home of the great Cloud Dragon – keeper of magic and granter of wishes. When 12-year-old Flick Hudson accidentally ends up in the Strangeworlds Travel Agency, she uncovers a fantastic secret: there are hundreds of other worlds just steps away from ours. She spends a lot of time entertaining herself as her mother is busy taking care of her little brother Freddy.

Once it was dry, he picked up the wet suitcase in one hand, testing the weight and shaking off a few droplets of sea-water. Liz is a truly likeable character who battles through adversity (racism, homophobia, anxiety) yet remains positive and loveable.

Flick and Jonathan have fun exploring Strofadia, but when the moons rise, there is no sign of movement from the mountain. With new people in the team will their collective knowledge and abilities help Flick to save the magic and the worlds?

Again, another I did on audio and paperback because I’ve probably read this whole series 3 or 4 times by this point. With the help of new and old friends, can Flick harness her magical powers and save those closest to her? The story missed an element of whimsy, although Pendulabor was such a dreamy and magical place; it wasn't present in the story for that long.As she pushed open the door, she had no idea her life was about to get far more exciting and adventurous than it had ever been. I loved the beginning, I loved the travel agency, I love the idea that one can travel through suitcases, that there are so many worlds to discover.

Wonder, exploration, weirdness and some dropped hints for the future, but a lovely standalone if not. To everyone around her, George is a boy - but George longs to be like Charlotte, the wise and gentle hero of Charlotte's Web. I am so glad I did because this was more adventure in the Strangeworlds universe and I want a million more. There were more suitcases stacked between two fireside armchairs like a coffee table, others neatly arranged in piles against the far wall and a couple leaning against Jonathan’s desk. Herbert's mother cannot understand why he won’t be a good rabbit, but Herbert doesn’t want to be a rabbit – he wants to be a fox! While children are exploring the world around them, it’s important that they have the opportunity to create a full picture rather than a puzzle with pieces missing.

We also visit some old locations too as Flick and Jonathan together with Avery and a couple of unexpected companions fight to protect all of the worlds. Then Flick gets the invitation of a lifetime: join Strangeworlds’s magical travel society and explore other worlds. And when Flick realizes what’s going on, she must race against time, travelling through unchartered worlds, to find a way to fix Five Lights before it collapses into nothingness—and takes her world with it.Flicks journey through this trilogy has been an amazing one and she really grows in this book as she learns more about her powers and what she is really capable of. The couple lay on the floor, wet through, catching their breath and grinning like no one who had just climbed out of a suitcase along with an overly affectionate octopus had any right to. rolls eyes* I think it would have been better if it had been incorporated in the story a bit better, make it natural. I also felt like there were so many side plots being woven into the story, and no real solution was given in the end. She stresses “the importance, particularly to children in their formative years, of being able to see yourself and your reality reflected in the books that you’re reading.
