June) 1951 Coleman was making the 220D and 228D with green painted brass founts rather than nickel plated brass; compare to the Model 200, above right. A common sight is the former footballing great tumbling down the leagues towards the end of his playing career, or the aging boxing legend becoming road kill for some up-and-comer; the result is always the same, a sad spectacle. These may have been made in a limited number to give to dealers that Coleman wanted to recognize for their service to the company.

Viewing prisoners who meekly do as they are told as collaborators, Marsh quickly became a marked man as far as the authorities were concerned. This was a testing time for those running Britain’s prisons – the Strangeways riot and poor industrial relations between the Prison Officers Association and the Prison Service stretched the authorities in a way they had rarely been tested before. The collar on this April 1966 dated lantern is only embossed 249 but it has features of Model 249D that was introduced this year (see below). Terry Marsh (born 7 February 1958) is an English former professional boxer who was an undefeated world champion in the light welterweight division. You realise that, in the long term, there probably isn’t enough money for you to live on and you have to work. The 27-year-old used apps like Badoo and Kik to try and groom what he thought was a 14-year-old girl.

To the outside world, he was a churchgoing and frail pensioner but 87-year-old Thomas Reed's sordid secret as a predatory paedophile was finally exposed. A couple of "dubious" moments whilst Kennedy was in the chair during the late 1990s under James Moir's reign, however, resulted in Ed Stewart or Alex Lester being granted the accolade. Canadian Model 200A, date stamped May 1969 (right), in Ken Laramee’s collection, has a short ventilator as on the 249E above and was similarly produced in the late 1960’s until mid-1970.When he was caught with s sordid stash of images, he told police it was a "coping mechanism" - so he didn't abuse more kids. It is much the same as Model 242D, above, except with a lower profile ventilator and the valve wheel is held with a recessed screw. Boyd was at first rarely heard on-air, but often played a part in Wogan's "mini-dramas", usually as the dour Scottish soundalike for a Taggart character. The prosecution had argued that a libel suit filed against Marsh by Warren was the motive for the shooting.

A defense against Akaio Kameda in 1987 saw Marsh box his way through a veil of blood, caused by a cut over his right eye, before eventually catching up with his challenger in the seventh round. Both victims have been left deeply traumatised by their ordeals, which they were too frightened to report until recently. It says much about the poor pay that firemen receive that this job is described as merely paying the bills, whilst the money to actually “live” came from boxing.

The lantern may have been made to use up parts from Model 249 production including the top nut and ventilator, however, it does have the bail as on Model 249D. The lantern on the left and lower is date stamped October, 1948, and is in Claude Ruel’s collection while the lantern on the right is date stamped January, 1952, and is in Agostino Del Coro’s collection. Today, we reveal the faces of the men convicted so far in 2020 for despicable sex offences involving children. A kerosene fueled model, the earlier lanterns had a wide lipped preheater cup (right image) such as on this one dated February 1949.This lantern, in Tony Webber’s collection, has the brass fount finished in light green paint due to a lack of nickel at the end of WWII.
