Now I don't really know what the gooey stuff was but I have a very good idea and as you can imagine, certainly didn't want them to do an analysis.

I rode my scooter (S2 TV175 engine) around this morning and there was frost on the grass and on windscreens. The Castrol Classic team has brought back the famous aroma of Castrol R40 – known to all as the Castrol R – for all racing two- and four-stroke motorcycles and cars – on and off-road. However once they stripped the engine they found what they described as a 'Gooey stuff' blocking the pickup. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice.Even now, it is still recommended to change castor oil frequently, even though modern castor oil has additives to reduce oxidation, which causes lacquers and deposits to form on various engine parts, and also additives to reduce corrosion from the moisture absorbed readily by this type of oil. I used to put 200ml cos its bean oil to 5 litres of fuel thats 25/1 mix ish in my old kxs and crs and its going in the 99 300exc same mix, never any problems but you must keep on top of the pv as they gum up, plus points are it seems to run quieter and smells of the good old days at steetleys.

Have you put some petrol and 'Bean Oil' in a glass jar, shaken it up then left it for a while to see what happens? What he did, was add a cap full of castor oil which he bought from the local chemist to the fuel cell (tank). The reason for that is that castor oil is hydroscopic in nature, if its left in a road bikes engine or fuel tank.

The oil was developed to have a great affinity for hot internal engine surfaces and provides excellent load capabilities,” its suppliers said – “something of high importance for racing engines running at sustained peak revolutions”. Oh when i find the right product that smell like "R" which am thinking is going to be A747, wud it be OK to put a little bit in my RC8 tank? As a spotty youth in the 60s I used to put it in my C11G the bloke in the garage reconed we were mad to put it in with the petrol the smell was great. I would not recommend castor oil for your road bike because you would spend a lot of money changing your oil very frequently and as an ex-racer, you know you MUST NOT mix castor oil with mineral oil. Who uses it these days and what with all the amazing modern oil technology around why would anyone use a castor based oil?

That's 50 years, not bad when you consider all those Slick 50 type products that have come and gone over the years. If you built the motor now and did not use it again until the spring it would need another strip to clean all the gum and corrosion out!
