About this deal

There have been some phenomenal Ûthar the Destined miniatures painted up by GW’s favourite influencers and painters in the hobbysphere.

After the spectacular Ûthar the Destined/Kâhl and Einhyr Champion models, I’m in two minds about the Hernkyn Pioneers. The Warhammer 40k 10th edition Leagues of Votann rules – as laid out in the free, 10th edition Leagues of Votann index cards – are pretty close to how the army functioned at the end of 9th edition, after nerfs cut back on some of their more overpowered core abilities.Void Armour might not be the mega-powerful, faction-wide passive survivability buff it was in 9th edition – but worsening incoming attacks’ AP is crucial to protect your elite infantry (and even your tanks, in a pinch), so you’ll find this 1CP is a regular staple.

That's right, folks, today marks the opening of pre-release purchases for the Warhammer 40K Leagues of Votann Army Set, an all-in-one box containing everything players need to run their own Leagues of Votann forces on the battlefield. This rule applies judgement tokens to enemy units for various misdeeds and each unit can accumulate up to three. As we saw with the non-vehicle miniatures in the set, there’s plenty about them that makes them feel like Squats, particularly their physical proportions and the runic-style motifs on some of their armour.Even within our little FauxHammer community of playtesters, the regular Warhammerers aren’t too keen on playing against any Leagues armies due to their frightening rules. The Ion Blasters would cost 1 point per swap while the rest of the upgrades are either 5, 10, or 20 points in the case of the Magna-rail rifle. But if you turn up to your local gaming hangout, to a friend’s house, or wherever it is you go to play and everyone takes one look at your Leagues figures and goes: “Nope, no thanks,” then a fundamental part of the intended experience of this box is being undermined. They are, above all else, absolutely dedicated to ensuring the survival of their species, which means they'll travel anywhere and do almost anything to obtain valuable resources to keep their people fed and their ships and worlds humming along. The sprue also builds special character Ûlthar the Destined, who has his own specific head and back crest, and carries the Blade of the Ancestors, a sword.

The Bastium void armour-clad Kâhl can be assembled with either an Autoch-pattern combi-bolter or a volkanite disintegrator for his sidearm, and forgewrought plasma axe or mass gauntlet for his left arm.The Kin’s genome must have been reworked at the same time human culture created the Navigator houses, but the Cloneskeins are far more stable than their Imperial equivalent. To us, it seems most likely that these figures will retail in boxes on 10 when they are eventually released – after all, most Warhammer 40,000 troop units tend to clock in around that kind of number. It forms the perfect basis for building an army, and you can supplement with the various vehicles and other models as they release this season.

Necromunda’s Squat population are descendants of an entirely distinct, non-Imperial, space-faring culture that provided technicians to the Imperium to help rebuild Necromunda in the aftermath of the Horus Heresy.Subscribe now to Warhammer+ to watch this week’s new shows, catch up on the incredible back catalogue of programmes, and get your hands on this year’s exclusive subscriber miniatures . They generally follow the trend where they give you early access to the codex a month or so in advance, which gives the box some intrinsic value. There are also a couple of alternate weapons, heads, and even different shoulder/backpack banner things, so you’re not limited in how you can customise this little guy.
