For dessert, stuff them with apple butter and cinnamon, Nutella and banana, or strawberries and cream cheese. Once your dough is made and nicely chilled, just roll it into a long rectangle shape, and fold it into thirds, like a letter. Turn it 90 degrees, and repeat a few more times. You can do this step maybe 3 to 5 times. Frozen Crescent Roll Dough– Frozen unbaked croissants or frozen or fresh puff pastry. You must thaw the dough before cooking it in the waffle iron. The result is less fluffy with this option After rolling all the goodness up into rolls, sometimes it’s hard to slice them into individual-sized rolls without smooshing them. If the knife you are using is not sharp enough, that can lead to the squishing of the rolls before they are baked. A great method to save you from frustration is dental floss! Yep, dental floss.

Once you’ve got the dough and filling ready, just roll out the crescent dough sheets and spread them with some jam on each side. Next, chop up your jalapeno peppers and mix them with boursin cheese, which adds a little creaminess while also helping the pepper flavor stand out. Next, add your cold butter. Cut the cold butter in until only pea-sized pieces of butter remain. I like to do this with a pastry blender, but if you don’t have one, you can do it the old-fashioned way with 2 knives. Or you could use a food processor. Once you’ve got everything ready to go, preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and start by layering your crescent sheet with some sloppy joe sauce. Cheese: I chose mild cheddar cheese for this recipe. You could substitute medium or sharp cheddar cheese for a stronger cheddar flavor.Cooking and Baking is my true passion. In fact, I only share a small portion of my recipes on Sweet As Honey. Most of them are eaten by my husband and my two kids before I have time to take any pictures! Try adding some chocolate chips or chopped dark chocolate if you’re feeling adventurous! This would be especially delicious with some cinnamon too. Experiment with different combinations and see which ones you like best! Ingredients– Traditional crescent roll and croissant dough recipes are near identical when it comes to their ingredient lists. Of course, variations depend on how a recipe has been adapted through the years and local twists on the dough itself. But for the most part, the 2 doughs contain the same ingredients, including yeast, milk, butter, sugar, salt, and flour. And since crescents are flexible dough, you can easily pinch together seams to shape it any way you like for your favorite crescent recipes. It’s basically like using Pillsbury crescent rolls from the tube. This recipe makes 2 dough sheets with 8 triangles just like Pillsbury dough.

While crescent rolls are commonly associated with breakfast, a loaf of Croupe is a delicious accompaniment to a light lunch or dinner. You can also make them by baking them and serving them with coffee or tea. If you enjoy croissants or crescent rolls, we’d love to see you here. Crescent Rolls Vs. Puff Pastry This recipe would be perfect for both casual gatherings with friends and fancy dinner parties with family members who live far away from each other but still want a taste of home in their bellies when they’re missing out on all the good food their mom makes every day at home (haha). All you need are crescent rolls and sharp cheddar cheese—which means that if you don’t already have them in your pantry, this will be an inexpensive meal as well. You could also freeze them. They’ll last in the freezer for several weeks to a month. When you’re ready to have some, just warm them gently in the oven (on the lowest setting) for about 10 or 15 minutes. This dough is really easy to make. You don’t even need a mixer! And it only has a few basic ingredients.

There’s a little bit of downtime for chilling the dough, but other than that you’re looking at only around 45 minutes of active time ’til crescent roll heaven! It’s one of my favorite things to make on the weekends, and it’s sure to become a favorite for you and your family, too. In the 17 th century, Austrian people started to use a different dough to make this crescent-shaped pastry due to a historic event. No more store-bought crescent rolls! These can be made ahead of time, refrigerated or frozen. It’s so easy, buttery and fluffy! Your friends and family are going to love these homemade crescent rolls! They truly make the whole meal- so soft and light! And everyone will be so impressed that you made them from scratch. The puff pastry cronuts did not work as well. They remained doughy on the inside while the outside was fully cooked. I did try cooking a few even longer and found that they would burn on the outside while the inside remained undercooked.
